Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Dice Odds" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: the probability table printed in a board game's rules insert. Pale felt green card stock, a classic double frame, small-caps headings, deep green marks with one brass highlight, and exact fractions a player can check.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Page: #E3EFE5 (pale felt green).
- Marks, frame and axis: #1B5E3F (deep green).
- The one highlighted mark (the most likely or most important value): #C9A227 (brass gold); also the kicker and the corner diamonds.
- Title and emphasis ink: #16382A. Secondary text: #4D6B5B. Gridlines: #B9D0BF.
- Pips inside deep green marks are #E3EFE5; pips inside the brass mark are #1B5E3F.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Alegreya SC for the kicker (13px 700, 2px letter-spacing, brass), the title (34px 800 #16382A, stating the finding), the category labels under the axis (20px 800 deep green; 24px #16382A for the highlighted one) and the axis title (14px 500, 1.5px letter-spacing).
- Alegreya Sans for the subtitle (16px 400 #4D6B5B), y labels (14px 500), fractions (numerator 15px 700, denominator 13px 500), callouts (14px 700 #16382A) and footer notes (13px).

Layout:
- Double frame: a 2px #1B5E3F rectangle 18px in and a 0.8px one 25px in, with small brass diamonds (7px half-diagonal, 1px green outline) at the four corners.
- Kicker at y 66, title at y 106, subtitle at y 134, 60px left margin. Two small white dice (30px, 6px radius, 1.6px green stroke, green pips) at the top right.
- Footer 44px from the bottom: a pip key on the left ("Each pip is one way to roll that total") and "Source: ..." on the right.

Axes and grid:
- Y axis in percent from 0, gridlines every 5 as 1px #B9D0BF dotted (1 on 3 off), labels right-aligned in 14px, the top one with "%".
- A 1.6px #1B5E3F baseline; no vertical axis line.

Marks:
- Bar chart: square-cornered bars 46px wide. When the value is a count of discrete outcomes, build each bar from equal stacked cells, one per outcome, with a centered 4.2px pip in each and a hairline seam (0.6px at 45% opacity, inset 5px) between cells, so the bar height stays exactly proportional to the value. Above each bar a stacked fraction: numerator, a 20px 1.1px rule, denominator. One bar in brass.
- Line chart: a 2.5px #1B5E3F line with straight segments and square-ended 8px pip markers (felt-colored fill, 2px green ring); the highlighted point in brass with a 6px radius. Label each point with its fraction or value above, and fill the area under the line with #1B5E3F at 8% opacity.
- A short callout beside the highlighted mark giving the exact value ("6 of 36, 16.7%").

Avoid: gradients, rounded bars, shadows, bright green, casino neon, 3D dice, and more than one gold mark.

When you're done, render the chart and check that bar heights are exactly proportional to the probabilities, each fraction sits clear above its bar, every pip is centered in its cell, and the frame's corner diamonds are fully visible.
