Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Demo Energy" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a lab instrument readout during a live demonstration. Charcoal panel, a thin lime border with corner studs, a gauge label strip, a jittery lime trace and technical labels.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Canvas: #151515 (charcoal). Gauge cells: #1E1E1E with 1px #3A3A3A strokes; the highlighted cell filled #A3E635 with #151515 text.
- Trace, border, event tick boxes and eyebrow: #A3E635 (lime).
- Callout box and marker: #FFFFFF 1px on the canvas color.
- Text: #FFFFFF title, #E7E7E2 values, #8C8C86 secondary. Gridlines: #2A2A2A. Event guides: #4A4A46.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Chakra Petch throughout. Eyebrow 600 12px uppercase with 2.4px letter-spacing in lime. Title 700 29px white. Subtitle 400 15px #8C8C86. Gauge keys 500 9px with 1.6px letter-spacing; gauge values 700 14px. Event numbers 700 12px lime; event names 500 10px uppercase with 1px letter-spacing. Axis labels 12px. Callout title 700 12px with 1px letter-spacing; callout value 500 12px lime.

Layout:
- A 1px lime border inset 16px from the canvas edge with 6 x 6px lime squares at each corner.
- Eyebrow at y 52, title at 104, subtitle at 130, 44px left margin.
- A gauge strip at the top right from x 548 to 912, y 30 to 64: five cells (channel, unit, sample rate, run length, peak), 72px wide with a 92px highlighted last cell, key on top and value below.
- Plot from x 84 to 912, y 184 to 488.

Axes and grid:
- Horizontal gridlines 1px #2A2A2A every 10 units, labeled at the left. X ticks every minute (6px, #8C8C86) labeled m:ss; an axis caption at the bottom right.
- Events: a 1px #4A4A46 dashed (2 on, 3 off) vertical guide per event from above the plot to the baseline, topped by an 18 x 18px lime-outlined box holding the event number, with the event name to its right.

Effects:
- Soft glow on the trace: Gaussian blur stdDeviation 2.2 merged under the source, with a canvas-sized filter region (userSpaceOnUse, 0 0 960 600).

Marks:
- Line chart: a 1.2px lime trace with straight segments through every sample (jagged, no smoothing), no dots. The peak gets a 4px white ring, a 1px white leader running 24px right, and a 200 x 44px white-outlined box with the event name and the peak value and time.
- Bar chart: narrow 2px-gap lime bars (one per sample bucket), square, with the same glow at lower strength; the peak bar gets the white boxed callout.

Avoid: smoothing the trace, color gradients, rounded corners, more than one data color, heavy fills.

When you're done, render the chart and check that the callout sits on the true maximum, the gauge strip does not crowd the title, event names do not run into the next event box, and the glow is unclipped.
