Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Deduction Mix" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a private bank's wealth brief. Deep midnight green, a fine copper frame, an elegant display serif and warm metallic segment colors.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Background: #0C1F1F (midnight green). Frame: a 1px #D08C60 copper border inset 16px, with a 0.5px copper inner border 5px inside it at 45% opacity.
- Primary text: #EFE9E1. Secondary text: #8FA6A3. Gridlines: #1C3434.
- Categories in order: #D08C60 (copper), #F3D597 (pale gold), #5EB8B0 (teal), #64748B (slate). Copper also for the eyebrow and the highlighted row.
- Segment labels in a dark tint of their segment (#1A0F08 on copper, #2A2210 on gold, #06201E on teal) and #F1F5F9 on slate.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- DM Serif Display 400 for the title (36px, #EFE9E1, stating the finding).
- Manrope for everything else: eyebrow 11px 700 uppercase with 2.4px letter-spacing in copper; subtitle 14px #8FA6A3 naming measure and quoting the key numbers; legend 13px 600; row labels 14px 600 right-aligned (the highlighted row 800 copper); segment labels 13px 700; axis labels 12px; source 12px.

Layout:
- 56px side margins inside the frame. Eyebrow y 64, title y 106, subtitle y 134.
- A legend row directly under the subtitle at y 156: 12px squares with 2px radius, 19px to their label, 30px between items.
- Row labels end 16px left of the plot. Plot from x 196 to 904, starting at y 204, 52px per row.
- Source at y 556.

Axes and grid:
- Vertical 1px #1C3434 gridlines at 0, 25, 50, 75 and 100%, labeled below the last row. No other axes.

Marks:
- Bar chart: 100% stacked horizontal bars 32px tall with square corners, 2px background-colored separators between segments, the percentage centered in each segment wider than 34px. Outline the row that carries the finding with a 1px copper rectangle 4px outside the bar.
- Line chart: one 2.5px line per category in the same four colors with 4px dots, shares on a 0 to 100% axis, direct labels at the right end in the series color, and a thin copper frame around the key period's column.

Avoid: gradients, glows, rounded bar ends, white backgrounds, heavy borders beyond the copper frame, and more than four categories (group the rest as Other in slate).

When you're done, render the chart and check that each row sums to 100%, segment labels have enough contrast on every color, the legend items are evenly spaced, and the copper frame is fully visible on all four sides.
