Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Cyberpunk HUD" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a futuristic heads-up display in a sci-fi city. Acid yellow and hot cyan on near-black, hard angles, technical readouts everywhere, and a title that looks like a corrupted video signal.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Background: #0A0B0D, with a dot grid of 1.2px squares every 16px in #5C6B73 at 35% opacity. Panels: #0E1114 at 85% opacity with a 1px #5C6B73 border at 50% opacity.
- Acid yellow #FCEE0A: the title, axis rulers and their labels, the outer frame, the second series.
- Hot cyan #00F0FF: the first (hero) series, corner brackets around the plot, the callout.
- Glitch magenta #FF2A6D: the red channel of the title split, the recording indicator and one alert readout (such as a delta). Never a data series.
- Ink #E8F1F2 for big readout numbers; the subtitle at 75% opacity, small labels at 60%, the source at 55%. Steel #5C6B73 for dashed gridlines, panel borders and secondary metadata.
- Additional series, in order: #00F0FF, #FCEE0A, #E8F1F2 (dashed 6/3), #FF2A6D.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Chakra Petch 700: title 34px uppercase with 1px letter-spacing; big readout numbers 26 to 28px.
- Rajdhani 600 to 700: subtitle 16px uppercase with 2.5px letter-spacing and " // " separators; legend labels 15px 700 with 2px letter-spacing; panel headers 13px 700 with 3px letter-spacing.
- Share Tech Mono 400: axis labels 13px, zero-padded (000, 100; 00:00, 03:00); readout keys, callout headers, footer and system tags 10 to 12px with 1.5px letter-spacing.

Layout:
- A 1px #FCEE0A frame at 35% opacity inset 20px, with 28px 45-degree chamfers on the top-left and bottom-right corners, and 22px L-shaped corner brackets (2px, square caps) in #FCEE0A at the four canvas corners, 12px in.
- A solid #FCEE0A tab across the top-left edge (a trapezoid with an angled right end) holding a system id in 10px mono set in the background color, and a "REC ● time" tag top right in #FF2A6D.
- Title and subtitle top left, then the legend as chamfered tags: 118 x 24px, 7px chamfers, a 1px border in the series color over a 10% fill of that color, a 16 x 6px solid swatch, and the label in the series color.
- The plot sits in a chamfered panel (16px chamfers) framed by 14px cyan corner brackets (1.5px). To its right, a narrow "READOUT" panel of stacked key/value readouts (totals, peak, delta), a segmented meter of 7 x 14px cells (lit cells yellow, unlit cells steel at 35%) and a diagonal-hatch status box. Footer: a barcode strip of random 1 to 3px bars in yellow, then "SOURCE: ILLUSTRATIVE DATA"; build metadata right-aligned; a cyan trapezoid bar along the bottom-right edge.

Axes and grid:
- Tick-ruler axes instead of plain axes: a 1px yellow line offset 8px outside the plot with minor ticks (5px, 50% opacity) and major ticks (10px, 90% opacity); labels only at major ticks.
- Horizontal gridlines only, #5C6B73 at 45% opacity, dashed 2/4. No vertical gridlines.

Marks:
- Line chart: straight segments (no smoothing), 2.5px, miter joins, with a tight glow (Gaussian blur 3px merged under the line). Hollow square markers (7px, background fill, 1.5px stroke in the series color) every few points. A faint cyan area under the hero series (22% to 0 vertical gradient).
- Bar chart: square-cornered bars with a 7px chamfer on the top-right corner, filled with the series color at 15% and a 1.5px outline in the series color; the highlighted bar solid with the glow. Tick-ruler axes as above.
- Mark the key point with a target reticle: a 4px dot, 26px corner brackets around it and short crosshair stubs, connected by a dashed leader to a chamfered callout box (#0A0B0D fill, 1.2px cyan border, a 4px solid cyan bar on its left edge) holding a mono header like "PEAK // 18:00" and the value in 28px Chakra Petch with a small unit.
- Mark a secondary point with a solid yellow diamond and a mono "value @ time" label.

Effects:
- RGB split on the title: draw it three times. A #FF2A6D copy shifted 2px left and a #00F0FF copy shifted 2px right, both at 80% opacity, then the yellow title on top.
- Glitch slice: clip a 7px horizontal band through the upper part of the title and shift that band of the yellow copy 6px right.

Avoid: rounded corners, smooth curves, soft pastel colors, purple sunset gradients, perspective grids, scanlines, green terminal text, and more than one glitch effect beyond the title.

When you're done, render the chart and check that the title split stays readable at thumbnail size, the callout doesn't cover the line, the ruler labels don't collide, and the readout numbers match the data.
