Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Currency Strength" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a sell-side FX desk's weekly strength ranking. Graphite, compact and scannable, with monospaced codes and values and a hard central zero.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Background: #1A1C1E (graphite). Alternating row stripe: #212427.
- Gains / positive: #3DD68C (bright green). Losses / negative: #FF5C5C (red).
- Primary text and zero line: #ECEEF0. Secondary text: #8B9197. Gridlines: #2C3034.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Chivo 700 for the title (30px, -0.3px letter-spacing, stating the finding) and Chivo 400 for the subtitle (15px muted), row names (13.5px muted) and footer (12px).
- Chivo Mono with tabular figures for codes and numbers: eyebrow 11.5px 500 uppercase, 1.6px letter-spacing; row codes 16px 700 with 1px letter-spacing; value labels 14px 600 in the bar color with an explicit + or -; axis ticks 11px.

Layout:
- 56px margins. Eyebrow, title, subtitle, then the axis tick labels along the top of the plot.
- Rows on a 38px pitch; code at the far left, full name 50px to its right, zero line at x 600 so there is room for the longest negative bar and its label.
- Stripes fill every other row from x 40 to x 920.

Axes and grid:
- Symmetric scale (for example -3% to +3%), ticks labeled at the top in Chivo Mono. Vertical 1px #2C3034 gridlines dashed 2 on 3 at each whole step, and a solid 1.5px #ECEEF0 zero line extending 4px past the first and last rows.

Marks:
- Bar chart: horizontal diverging bars 20px tall starting at zero, green right for gains and red left for losses, square at the zero side and 3px rounded at the outer end. Rows sorted strongest to weakest. Values 8px outside the bar end (left of negative bars, right of positive ones).
- Line chart: lines for each series colored by the sign of their latest value (green or red, 2px), a solid zero line, end labels with code and signed value in Chivo Mono, and the same stripes as horizontal bands behind the plot.

Avoid: gradients, glows, color scales between green and red, labels inside bars, unsorted rows.

When you're done, render the chart and check that bars start exactly at the zero line, rows are sorted, signs and colors agree, and the longest negative label does not collide with the names column.
