Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Coverage Report" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: an automated test coverage report. White, tabular and utilitarian, with a traffic-light color rule that turns every bar into a pass, warn or fail verdict.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Page #FFFFFF. Ink #1F2328, muted #656D76, rules and borders #D8DEE4.
- Bars colored by threshold: #1A7F37 green for 80% and up, #BF8700 amber for 60% to under 80%, #CF222E red below 60%. The percentage text uses the same color as its bar.
- Track (the full 100% behind each bar) #EEF1F4. Zebra rows #FAFBFC. Summary row #F6F8FA.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Inter for the title (700 23px, -0.3px letter-spacing, stating the finding), subtitle (400 14.5px muted, with measure, unit and scope), column headers (600 10.5px uppercase, 1px letter-spacing, muted), summary labels (12.5px muted), legend and source (12px).
- Fira Code for module paths (12.5px; the directory prefix muted, the last segment 500 ink), percentages (600 12.5px, right-aligned, tabular figures), line counts (12px muted, "612/648") and summary values (600 13px). Turn off ligatures (font-variant-ligatures: none) so hashes and paths render literally.

Layout:
- 40px side margins. Title and subtitle at the top, then a 44px summary row (6px radius, #D8DEE4 border) split into equal cells by 20px vertical dividers: overall percentage (colored by the same rule), covered/total lines, module count, count below the lowest threshold (red), commit hash.
- Then a table: MODULE column at left, COVERAGE bars from x = 262 about 520px wide, "%" right-aligned at x = 842, LINES right-aligned at x = 920. 30px rows sorted from highest to lowest, 1px #D8DEE4 rules under the header and after the last row.
- Footer: the threshold axis labels, then a legend of three 12px square chips on the left and "Source: ..." on the right.

Axes and grid:
- No gridlines. Two dashed threshold ticks (1px ink at 55% opacity, 3 on 3) run vertically through all rows at 60% and 80%, labeled under the table in their band color (600 11.5px mono). "0%" and "100%" in muted mono at the ends of the track.

Marks:
- Bar chart: horizontal bars 14px tall with 2px radius, filled to the value inside a 100% track of the same height. Color is set only by the threshold band.
- Line chart: coverage over time as a 2px ink line with small points, the plot background banded in 8% tints of red (under 60), amber (60 to 80) and green (80 and up), dashed threshold lines at 60 and 80, and each point colored by its band; the latest value labeled in its band color in mono.

Avoid: gradients, shadows, rounded pill bars, decorative color that does not come from the threshold rule, and sorting that breaks the band order.

When you're done, render the chart and check that every bar's color matches its band, the summary numbers add up from the rows, the threshold ticks line up with the 60% and 80% positions on the tracks, and no hash or path shows a ligature.
