Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Cover Forecast" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a restaurant reservations report in the evening light of a harbour dining room. Deep ink green, cream type, a literary serif headline and a calm, confident forecast.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Background: #0F2420 (ink green).
- Primary series, headline and key text: #F2EAD3 (cream).
- Secondary series and the eyebrow: #A9C2A4 (pale sage).
- Secondary text and axis labels: #8FA398. Gridlines and rules: #28413A.
- Forecast fan: cream as a horizontal gradient from 24% to 10% opacity; the forecast zone behind it tinted cream at 3.5%.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Fraunces 600 for the headline (34px, stating the finding) and the peak callout number (20px).
- Sora for everything else: eyebrow 11px 600 uppercase with 2.4px letter-spacing in sage; subtitle 13.5px #8FA398; legend 12px; axis labels 11 to 11.5px; weekday initials 10.5px; "HISTORY" and "FORECAST" 10px 600 uppercase with 1.8px letter-spacing; a "TODAY" pill 9.5px 700.

Layout:
- 56px margins. Eyebrow, headline, subtitle, then a single-row legend: a solid cream line swatch, a dotted sage swatch and a fan swatch with a dashed cream line.
- The plot spans most of the width; a footer rule near the bottom with the source on the left and "Weekends underlined" on the right.

Axes and grid:
- 1px #28413A horizontal gridlines at round values, labels on the left. A 1px #8FA398 baseline.
- Beneath the baseline, a row of weekday initials (M T W T F S S) under every day; weekends are 700 cream with a 1.2px cream underline 8px wide, weekdays 400 in #8FA398. Below that, a date label under each Monday with a 5px tick.
- A thin 1px cream vertical "today" rule divides history from forecast, labeled "HISTORY" (right-aligned, muted) and "FORECAST" (cream) at its top, and a cream "TODAY" pill with ink green text below the date row.

Marks:
- Line chart: the main series is a smooth monotone cubic 2.6px cream line; it continues into the forecast as a 1.8px cream dash (5 on, 4 off) inside a fan band that widens steadily with the horizon. The secondary series is a dotted sage line (2.6px, round caps, dasharray 0.1 5.5) that continues into the forecast at 55% opacity. Mark the forecast peak with an ink green dot with a 2px cream ring, its value in Fraunces to the left and its date beneath in muted Sora.
- Bar chart: slim cream bars with 2px top radius for history, forecast bars drawn as cream outlines (1.5px) over a faint cream fill with a thin error whisker for the range; the secondary series as small sage dots on top. Weekday initials and the today rule stay.

Avoid: glow, heavy fills, bright accent colors, straight-segment lines, and labeling every point.

When you're done, render the chart and check that the fan widens only after today, weekends are underlined on the right days, the peak callout doesn't touch the fan or the top gridline, and the headline's number and weekday match the data.
