Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Courier Supply" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: the live dispatch map of a food delivery app at night. A near-black green ground with a barely visible street grid, a glowing lime supply line against a crisp white demand line, and orange surge bands with multiplier chips wherever demand outruns supply.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Canvas: #0B1411. Street grid: #FFFFFF lines at 4% opacity overall (see Texture).
- Supply series: #A3E635 with a glow. Demand series: #FFFFFF.
- Surge bands: #F97316, a vertical gradient from 26% opacity at the top to 8% at the bottom, with a solid 2px #F97316 cap line. Surge chips: solid #F97316 with #0B1411 text and bolt icon; band time labels in #F97316.
- Text: #FFFFFF for the title and legend, #8FA39A for the subtitle, context line and x labels, #5E7169 for y labels and the source line.
- Gridlines: #1C2A25.
- Additional series if needed: #38BDF8 then #F472B6, 2.5px, no glow.

Typography (Google Fonts): Urbanist everywhere, tabular figures for numbers.
- Live pill text 11.5px 800 uppercase with 1.2px tracking. Context line 13px 600.
- Title 30px 800 with -0.6px tracking. Subtitle 14.5px 500 explaining the measure and the surge rule.
- Legend 13px 700. Axis labels 12px 600. Chip text 12px 800. Band time labels 11px 700. Callout value 14px 800 with a 12px 600 caption. End labels 13px 800. Source 11.5px 500.

Layout:
- Top left: a 26px fully rounded "LIVE" pill (#A3E635 at 12% fill, 1px #A3E635 border at 40%, a 4px lime dot, at least 14px of padding after the text), then a context line 14px after the pill. Title at y 104, subtitle at y 132, legend at y 166, all from x 40.
- Plot from x 64 to 868, y 214 to 506, leaving room on the right for end labels. Source at y 568.

Texture:
- A 56px square street-grid pattern: 1px lines on the 56px grid plus 0.5px lines at the 28px midpoints, all #FFFFFF, with the pattern layer at 4% opacity. No diagonal strokes: anything crossing the canvas reads as a rendering artifact.

Axes and grid:
- Horizontal gridlines only, 1px #1C2A25, y labels right-aligned 12px left of the plot, round steps (0, 50, 100, 150, 200). X labels every two hours in 24-hour clock format. No axis lines.

Marks:
- Line chart: supply as a 3.5px smooth monotone lime line with a glow (Gaussian blur 5px merged under the stroke, filter region covering the whole canvas); demand as a 2.5px smooth white line drawn beneath it. Surge bands cover each run of readings where demand exceeds supply (half a step of padding on each side) and the full plot height plus 6px; above each, a 92 x 22 fully rounded orange chip with a bolt icon and "1.5x surge". Put the band's time range at the bottom inside the band. Mark the largest shortfall with a 2px dashed orange connector between hollow dots on both lines (4.5px, 2.5px stroke) and a "37 orders / short at 19:00" callout to the right. End each series with a dot and its value just right of the plot; the supply dot gets a 9px lime halo at 20%.
- Bar chart: grouped slim bars per time bucket, lime #A3E635 for supply and white for demand, 3px top radius; buckets under surge sit on the orange band with the chip above. Keep the glow off the bars, apply it only to a lime top edge line if desired.

Avoid: pure black, blue-tinted grays, a visible street grid above 5% opacity, glows on the white line or text, and legends placed inside the plot.

When you're done, render the chart and check that every surge band matches a period where demand really exceeds supply, the chips do not overlap the legend, the glow is not clipped, and the callout number equals the gap at that time.
