Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Container Stock" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a wholesale nursery's weekly availability sheet. Warm, earthy and businesslike: terracotta pots, a clear count and a short note for the buyer.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Page: #FBF7F1 (warm white).
- Primary data (for example available stock): #C66A3D (terracotta), solid.
- Secondary stacked segment (for example reserved stock): a 45 degree hatch of 2.6px #C66A3D stripes on #F2DCCF, repeating every 7px.
- Dark terracotta for small labels and chip text: #8F4524. Pot chip fill: #F3E4D8.
- Ink: #2B211C. Secondary text: #7A6B61. Gridlines and note border: #EADFD4. Note card: #FFFFFF.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Sofia Sans throughout. Eyebrow 12px 700 uppercase, 2.4px letter-spacing, terracotta. Title 34px 800 #2B211C stating the finding. Subtitle 16px 400 #7A6B61. Legend 14px 600. Axis labels 13px. Totals above bars 15px 700 ink. Counts inside bars 12.5px 700 #FFF4EC. Pot chip labels 14px 700 #8F4524. Note card: 11px 700 uppercase label with 1.8px letter-spacing, 16px 700 headline figure, 14px and 12px detail lines.

Layout:
- 56px left margin. Eyebrow at y 50, title at y 90, subtitle at y 118. Legend on the left at y 160.
- An inventory note card in the top right (x 694 to 904, y 150 to 236): white, 6px radius, 1px #EADFD4 border, a 4px terracotta bar on its left edge, with a label, the total count, the reserved share and a count date.
- Plot from x 96 to 904 with the baseline at y 470. A small caption and the source line under the pot chips.

Axes and grid:
- 1px #EADFD4 horizontal gridlines at round steps, labels right-aligned 12px left of the plot. A 1.2px #2B211C baseline. No y-axis line.
- Each category label is a pot chip under its bar: a trapezoid pot (52px wide at the rim tapering to 42px, 30px tall, #F3E4D8 fill, 1.2px terracotta outline) with a 58 x 6px terracotta rim, and the size ("5 L") centered inside.

Marks:
- Bar chart: stacked vertical bars 58px wide, rounded top shoulders (12px radius on the top corners of the whole stack only). Primary segment solid terracotta at the bottom, secondary segment hatched on top, separated by a 2px page-colored line and outlined with 1.5px terracotta. Stack total above each bar, primary count inside near the base when the segment is taller than 26px.
- Line chart: a 3px #C66A3D line with 6px terracotta dots ringed in page color; a second series as a 2px dashed #8F4524 line. Put the pot chips under the x positions as category labels.

Avoid: cold grays, gradients, 3D pots, drop shadows, rounded bottoms on bars, and a hatch that is so fine it turns into a flat tint at small size.

When you're done, render the chart and check that the hatch reads clearly at thumbnail size, the rounded shoulders belong to the whole stack (not each segment), totals and percentages in the note match the data, and the note card clears the tallest bar.
