Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Compliance Reviews" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a research integrity board report on a deep indigo screen. Soft pastel bars, pill-shaped committee badges as the legend and small tracked caps chips carrying a turnaround metric under every group.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Background: #16163A (deep indigo). Badge and chip fill: #1E1E4A; borders #2B2B5C.
- Series: #A5B4FC (periwinkle), #FDBA74 (peach), #86EFAC (mint). The mint series also carries a fine 45-degree hatch (background color at 35% opacity, 1.6px lines, 5px pitch) so it separates from peach under color-vision deficiency.
- Text: #EEF0FF; secondary #8E92C4; footnote #6E72A6. Gridlines #2B2B5C dotted (2 4); baseline #4A4A8A; period divider #3A3A74.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Outfit throughout: eyebrow 11px 600 uppercase with 2px letter-spacing; title 29px 600, -0.3px letter-spacing, stating the finding; subtitle 15px #8E92C4; badge names 13px 500; badge codes 11px 700 in background color; category labels 14px 600; value labels 11px 600; chip text 11px 600 caps with 1.2px letter-spacing; footnote 11.5px.

Layout:
- 48px margins. Eyebrow y 52, title y 88, subtitle y 114.
- Legend as pill badges at y 136: a 28px-tall rounded pill (#1E1E4A) holding a 30 x 20 colored mini pill with a two-letter code and the full name beside it.
- Plot from about y 196 to a baseline at y 452. Under each group: the category label, then a 68 x 22px chip (4px radius) with the metric in caps, e.g. "MED 18D". The best value's chip gets a #2C2C66 fill, periwinkle border and white text. Period names (FY2025, FY2026) in tracked caps below, split by a 1px vertical divider.

Axes and grid:
- No y-axis line; labels 12px right-aligned 12px left of the plot at round steps; dotted gridlines.

Marks:
- Bar chart: grouped vertical bars 20px wide with 4px gaps, 4px rounded tops, flat bottoms. Label only the tallest series' values above its bars in periwinkle.
- Line chart: three 2.5px lines in the same pastels with 5px round markers (the mint one hatched or dashed 6 3), the same chips under each period and the same badges.

Avoid: saturated neon colors, glows, 3D, a boxed legend, and labeling every bar.

When you're done, render the chart and check that the chips are centered under their groups, the best chip is truly the minimum, the mint series is distinguishable from peach without color, and the title numbers match the data.
