Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Colorway Mix" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a page from a clothing brand's lookbook. Clean white paper, generous margins, a graceful serif title, and each category drawn in its own real fabric color so the chart doubles as a color card.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Page: #FFFFFF. Ink: #1F1F1D. Secondary text and values: #8A8780. Row hairlines: #E4E1DA.
- Category fills, one per category, each the category's own shade: sage #9CAF88, navy #22314D, rust #B5582F, cream #EDE3CF, blush #E7B8B0. The cream fill (and any very pale fill) gets a 1px #CDBFA3 outline so it holds its edge on white.
- If a category has no natural color, pick a muted fabric tone (stone, oat, olive, slate), never a saturated digital hue.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Cormorant Infant 500 for the title (44px, #1F1F1D, sentence case, stating the finding) and an italic 500 17px closing note.
- Karla for everything else: brand eyebrow 12px 700 uppercase with 5px letter-spacing, followed 70px later by a 12px #8A8780 collection line with 0.6px letter-spacing; subtitle 15px #8A8780 with measure, unit and total; category names 17px 500; values 14px #8A8780 tabular; share column 14px 500 #1F1F1D tabular; column header and folio 10px 700 uppercase with 2 to 2.4px letter-spacing.

Layout:
- 96px side margins (the right edge of content at x 864). Eyebrow at y 70, title at y 132, subtitle at y 162.
- Rows start at y 206, 58px apart, separated by 1px #E4E1DA hairlines across the full content width.
- Each row: an 18 x 18 square swatch chip at the left margin, the category name 32px right of the chip's left edge, the bar from x 250, the value 14px past the bar end, and the share percentage right-aligned at x 864 under a "SHARE" column header.
- A single italic note under the chart aligned to the bar start. Source line left and a "LOOKBOOK 12" style folio right at y 566.

Axes and grid:
- No gridlines and no value axis. A 1px #1F1F1D zero line at the bar start spanning the rows. Hairlines between rows only.

Marks:
- Bar chart: horizontal, sorted largest first, 26px tall, square-cornered, each filled with its category's shade (pale fills outlined 1px #CDBFA3). Values sit outside the bar ends in small gray figures; nothing is printed inside the bars.
- Line chart: one 2.5px line per category in its own shade (pale shades get a 1px #CDBFA3 casing line drawn 1px wider underneath), no markers except a 5px end dot, with the swatch chip, name and latest value stacked in a label column at the right end. Same white page, hairline horizontal gridlines in #E4E1DA only.

Avoid: a legend (the swatch chips are the legend), gradients, shadows, rounded bars, bold saturated colors, labels inside bars, and tight margins.

When you're done, render the chart and check that every pale fill has its outline, the shares add up to about 100%, the value labels never touch the share column, and the page still feels airy.
