Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Cohort Progress" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a bootcamp cohort tracker at night. Midnight purple, a row of roster chips, thin lines in a lilac-to-pink ramp and a dashed white "on track" pace to beat.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Page: #1A1433 (midnight purple). Chip fill: #241C45 with a 1px #3A3163 outline (the leader's chip outlined in its own color). Gridlines: #2C2450.
- Series ramp, leader first: #B9AEFF (lilac), #D39CF7, #EA8BE0 (orchid), #F77DBE, #FF6F96 (pink). Order it by rank so the ramp itself reads as a ranking.
- Pace line: #FFFFFF. Leader star: #FFD66B.
- Ink: #F5F3FF. Secondary text: #A59CC8. Eyebrow: #D39CF7.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Sora 600 for the title (28px, -0.4px letter-spacing, stating the finding).
- Manrope for everything else: eyebrow 12px 700 uppercase, 2.2px letter-spacing; subtitle 15px 400 muted; chips 12.5px 600; axis labels 12.5px 500 muted; end labels 12.5px 600 in the series color (the leader 13px 800); pace label 12px 700 white; source 12px.

Layout:
- Header at 48px margins, then a row of 30px fully rounded roster chips (dot plus "Cohort 21 · Jan") that doubles as the legend.
- Plot from x 88 to 800 and y 206 to 516, leaving about 110px at the right for end labels. Footer at y 574.

Axes and grid:
- 1px #2C2450 gridlines at 0, 25, 50, 75, 100% with labels at the left. No axis lines. x labels every other week ("Start", "Wk 2", ...).

Marks:
- Line chart: 2.2px lines with straight segments, drawn back to front so the leader sits on top, a 3.5px dot at each end, and an end label with name and final value. The on-track pace is a 1.6px white dashed line (7 on, 6 off) from 0 to 100% at the final week, labeled "On-track pace" along its slope just above the line early on.
- Leader: a gold five-point star (outer radius 8.5, inner 3.8) before its end label, plus a small muted note above ("done in week 11").
- Bar chart: grouped or horizontal bars per cohort in the same ramp with 3px rounded ends, a white dashed target line at the pace value, direct value labels in the series color, and the star beside the leading bar.

Avoid: light backgrounds, rainbow palettes, thick lines, a separate legend box, and fills under the lines.

Color vision: the ramp is close in hue, so always keep the direct end labels in rank order and the roster chips; never rely on color alone.

When you're done, render the chart and check that the end labels do not collide, the pace label sits clear of every line, and the ramp order matches the ranking.
