Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Cloisonne" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a cloisonne enamel vase. Jewel-toned glass cells fenced by fine gold wire on a black enamel ground, formal and ornamental but perfectly legible.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Ground: #101213, with a radial lift from #1A1D1F at the center (50%, 40%) to #101213.
- Enamel series, bottom of the stack upward: lapis #2D4F9E, turquoise #2A9D9A, coral #D9644A, jade #5FA06E. Keep this order so similar hues never touch.
- Gold wire #C9A24A for cell outlines, ornaments, totals, the baseline and brackets. Cream #EFE3C8 for the title and labels, #9C9483 for secondary text.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Cinzel 700 for the title (31px, cream, centered) and the stack totals (17px, gold); Cinzel 600 14px with 2px letter-spacing for group labels such as years.
- Lora for the eyebrow (12px 600 uppercase, 4px letter-spacing, gold, centered), subtitle (15px, #9C9483, centered), tick labels (11px), category labels (14px 500) and direct series labels (13px 500 cream).

Layout:
- Centered header: eyebrow at y 68, title at y 106, subtitle at y 136.
- Plot from x 116 to 790 with the baseline at y 474; direct series labels to the right of the last stack. Category labels 24px under the baseline; group brackets (1px gold at 60% opacity, 6px legs) 36 to 42px below it with the group name centered 62px below it.
- Gold wire scrolls in both top corners (mirrored): a spiral curl at the corner (1.5px), a tendril along the top edge about 170px long and one down the side about 150px long (1.2px), each ending in a small counter-curl, with two or three tiny enamel dots (radius 2.2 to 2.4, 0.8px gold ring) set between the wires.

Axes and grid:
- Faint horizontal gridlines in gold at 10% opacity; y labels at left. Baseline a 1px gold rule.

Marks:
- Bar chart: stacked bars 52px wide. Every segment is its own enamel cell: a rectangle with 4px corner radius, 3px gap to the next cell, filled with the series color plus a top-to-bottom black overlay from 0% to 22% opacity for depth, a glassy highlight in its upper left (a curved wedge from the top-left corner to 58% of the width and 62% of the height, filled white fading from 38% to 0% opacity along the diagonal), and a 1.5px gold wire outline inset 0.75px. The stack total sits 12px above the stack in Cinzel gold.
- Line chart: each series is a 3px line in its enamel color edged on both sides by 1px gold wire (draw the gold at 5px under the colored line), with round markers as small enamel cells: radius 5 filled with the series color, 1.5px gold ring and a white glint at the upper left.

Labels and annotation:
- Direct labels beside the last stack: a 10px rounded swatch with a gold ring, then the series name and its latest value.

Avoid: flat cells without the wire outline, thick outlines, saturated neon versions of the enamel colors, drop shadows and a separate boxed legend.

When you're done, render the chart and check that every cell has its own gold outline and highlight, adjacent cells never share a similar hue, the totals equal the sum of their cells, and the corner scrolls stay clear of the header text.
