Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Clay Rallies" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: the chart is painted on a clay tennis court. Warm terracotta ground with fine grain, crisp white court lines framing the plot, tall condensed white headlines like a broadcast graphic.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Ground: #C8643B (terracotta), with a fine grain: fractal noise (base frequency 0.9, 2 octaves) tinted dark clay at about 50% layer opacity, plus a radial light from white 7% at the upper center to black 12% at the edges.
- Primary series and all court lines: #FFFFFF. Second series: #F4E3C8 (cream) with a 45-degree hatch of 1.4px #C8643B lines at 35% opacity every 6px, so the two light fills stay distinguishable.
- Labels inside white bars: #C8643B. Labels inside cream bars: #7A3317. Secondary text: #F4E3C8.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Bebas Neue for the title (50px, 1px letter-spacing, white, uppercase, stating the finding), category labels (24px white), in-bar values (28px on white, up to 24px on cream, shrinking to fit short segments), the legend names (22px) and the callout numeral (56px white).
- Archivo for the eyebrow (700 12px, 2.4px letter-spacing, cream), the subtitle (400 15px cream), tick labels (600 12px cream), total labels above bars (700 12px, 1.2px letter-spacing, white) and small callout text (700 11px, 1.4px letter-spacing, cream).

Layout:
- 64px margins. Eyebrow, title and subtitle top left; legend top right with a solid white square and a hatched cream square.
- The plot is framed like a court: 3px white sidelines and a top service line forming a box from x 72 to 888, y 178 down to the baseline at y 494, and a heavier 5px white baseline as the x axis. No other marks on the baseline (a center mark would read as a stray tick between bars).
- Category labels in Bebas below the baseline; source bottom left.

Axes and grid:
- Y ticks at quarters of the range in Archivo cream, left of the plot, with a tiny "POINTS WON" axis title in the frame's top-left corner. Gridlines 1px white at 22% opacity, dashed 3 on 5, broken (masked out) behind each total label so no rule runs through the text.

Marks:
- Bar chart: a stacked histogram with bins touching except for a 10px gap. The first series is solid white from the baseline; the second is hatched cream above it, separated by a 3px terracotta gap. Values print inside each segment; the bin total prints above each stack. Square corners.
- Line chart: two 3.5px lines, solid white and cream (#F4E3C8) dashed 8 on 5, square caps, with 5px white dots at data points and the same court-line frame; label each line at its right end in Bebas.
- Callout: a big Bebas percentage with two lines of Archivo caption, connected to the relevant mark by a 1.5px white elbow leader ending in a 3px dot.

Avoid: any second hue, drop shadows, rounded bars, gradients on the bars, and thin fonts (everything must read on the textured ground).

When you're done, render the chart and check that white and cream segments are distinguishable at thumbnail size (the hatch does this), every in-bar label fits its segment, the court frame is unbroken and the callout percentage matches the data.
