Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Circuit Board" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: the chart etched onto a printed circuit board. Matte green solder mask, metallic traces routed with 45 degree bends, plated vias at every data point, crisp white silkscreen type and component outlines. Technical and tactile, never cartoonish.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Solder mask: #0F3B2A for the board, inset 6px from the canvas edge with a 16px corner radius on a #0B2E21 surround.
- Copper: #C89B4A for series 1.
- Tinned silver: #B8C0C4 for series 2 and for the plated mounting-hole rings.
- Red copper: #E8866A for series 3.
- Silkscreen: #F4F4EC for all text, axes, ticks, outlines and reference lines.
- Buried copper under the mask: #14482F for faint decorative ground runs and a via fence. Drill holes and via centers #061A12.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- IBM Plex Sans Condensed for the title block: title 600 26px stating the finding, subtitle 15px at 82% opacity, cell names 500 13px with 0.6px letter-spacing.
- Share Tech Mono for designators and labels: tick labels 13px, axis titles 12px uppercase with 1px letter-spacing, designators 13px at trace ends and 20px inside component outlines, title block footer 12px with 1px letter-spacing.

Layout:
- Four plated mounting holes, one in each corner 34px from the edges: an r 13 #B8C0C4 ring with an r 7 #061A12 drill.
- A silkscreen title block at top left: a 1.5px outlined rectangle about 660 x 116 px, a 1px rule near its bottom, title and subtitle above the rule, a board revision code at left and "SOURCE: ILLUSTRATIVE DATA" at right below it.
- The plot at left (about 640 x 300 px) and a legend column at the right headed "CELLS UNDER TEST".
- Faint #14482F ground traces and a row of r 3 fence vias along the bottom edge for depth, kept well below the text.

Axes and grid:
- No gridlines. Left and bottom axes as a 1.5px silkscreen path, 6px outward ticks, labels in mono with fixed decimals.
- Reference thresholds (such as a cut-off) as a 1px silkscreen line at 60% opacity, dashed 6 5, labeled in 12px mono.

Marks:
- Line chart: route each series like a PCB trace, 3.6px wide with round joins and caps. Between consecutive points, run horizontally, bend 45 degrees to the next value, then run horizontally again (split the horizontal run evenly on both sides of the bend); only when the drop is larger than the horizontal distance, use 45 degree ends with a vertical segment between. Give every trace a 5px black shadow at 25% offset 1, 1.5. At every data point place a plated pad in the trace color with an r 2.2 #061A12 center, a different pad shape per series as secondary encoding: round via r 6, square pad 11px, octagonal pad r 6.2. Label each trace end with its designator (U1, U2, U3) in silkscreen.
- Bar chart: bars as copper pours: solid trace-colored rectangles with 3px rounded corners and a 1px silkscreen outline offset 3px outside, a plated via at the top center of each bar, the value in silkscreen mono above.
- Legend: a silkscreen component outline (130 x 58 px, 1.4px) per series with a pin-1 dot, four small pads on each side in the series color, the series pad shape, the designator in 20px mono and a short spec line, the part name below.

Avoid: bright or glowing greens, gradients on the mask, curved traces, traces at angles other than 0, 45 and 90 degrees, drop shadows on text, and colors outside the palette.

When you're done, render the chart and check that every trace segment is horizontal, vertical or exactly 45 degrees, each pad sits exactly on its data value, the three series stay distinguishable by pad shape and end designator, and the mounting holes are clear of all text.
