Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Cinemascope" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a widescreen film frame. Black letterbox bars above and below a 2.39:1 image graded teal and slate, one warm orange line that glows like a practical light, and the title set in the lower bar like an opening credit.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Letterbox bars and canvas: #050607.
- Image area: a diagonal linear gradient (top left to bottom right) from #0F3B45 (teal) to #16222A (slate), plus a radial vignette: transparent to 55% of the radius, then #000000 at 45% opacity at the edges.
- Hero series: #F2913A (warm orange).
- Area fill under the hero line: #8FD1D6 (pale teal), vertical gradient from 30% opacity at the top to 2% at the baseline.
- Comparison series and light text: #D9E3E6. Dim labels: #8A9AA2. Credit title: #F2EDE4.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Oswald for the credit title (400, 30px, ALL CAPS, 7px letter-spacing, centered) and the headline number (500, 34px, orange).
- Inter for everything else: the measure line in the top bar (500, 13px, ALL CAPS, 2px letter-spacing, #8A9AA2), axis labels 400 12px #8A9AA2, x labels 500 11px with 1px letter-spacing ("WK 1"), series labels 600 15px, small caps-style tags 600 11px with 1.5px letter-spacing, source 500 10px with 3px letter-spacing, uppercase.

Layout:
- The image area is exactly 2.39:1: at 960 wide it is 402px tall, from y 99 to 501, with 99px black bars top and bottom.
- Top bar: the measure line (measure, unit, period) at x 48, y 58; an aspect-ratio tag at the top right: a 66 x 24 px box with a 1px #8A9AA2 outline, 3px radius, "2.39:1" centered in 600 12px #D9E3E6.
- Bottom bar: the title as a film credit, centered at y 551, with "SOURCE: ..." centered below it at y 580.
- Plot inside the image from x 96 to 872 and y 133 to 457; x labels at y 481 inside the image.

Axes and grid:
- Horizontal gridlines only, 1px white at 10% opacity; the zero line at 35% opacity. Y labels right-aligned 30px left of the plot with a unit prefix ("$20M"). No axis lines, no ticks.

Marks:
- Line chart: the hero series as a monotone smoothed 3px orange line with round caps, over a 7px orange copy at 55% opacity blurred with a Gaussian blur of stdDeviation 6 (the glow), over the pale teal area. The comparison series as a 1.6px #D9E3E6 line at 55% opacity, dashed 5 on 5 off, no area, no glow. Label both directly in Inter: the hero in 600 15px orange just above its line, the comparison in 400 13px #D9E3E6 at 70% opacity.
- Mark the key event (the opening week) with a solid orange r 5 dot inside an r 11 1.2px orange ring, a 1px orange leader going up and right, and a two-line label: a tag ("OPENING WEEK") in dim caps and the value in 600 16px #D9E3E6.
- Bar chart: vertical bars in the image area with 2px top radius, filled with a vertical gradient from #F2913A to #F2913A at 55% opacity, a soft orange glow (the same blur at 40% opacity) behind the highlighted bar only; comparison bars as 1.2px dashed #D9E3E6 outlines with no fill.
- A headline number at the top right of the plot (Oswald 500 34px orange) with a 13px Inter note beneath it, right-aligned.

Avoid: any text or mark outside its bar or image zone, colors other than the listed ones, heavy borders, legends in boxes, and a glow clipped by its filter region (set the filter region to the full canvas in user space).

When you're done, render the chart and check that the image area is 2.39:1, the letterbox bars are pure black with the credit centered in the lower bar, the glow is soft and unclipped, and the labels sit clear of both lines.
