Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Checkout Live" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: the real-time monitor a sales team watches on launch day. Near-black, one hot coral line with a soft glow, monospaced live numbers and a ticker that looks like it's still moving.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Background: #0B0B0D. Sidebar panel: #141417 with a 1px #232328 border and 12px radius.
- Live series, LIVE pill and newest ticker amount: #FF6B57 (hot coral).
- Comparison series (same period last year): #7A7A84, dashed.
- Gridlines: #26262B. Primary text: #F2F2F3. Secondary text: #8B8B93. Axis labels and quiet captions: #5C5C64.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Geist for words: eyebrow 11.5px 500 uppercase, 1.4px letter-spacing, #8B8B93; title 27px 600 with -0.6px letter-spacing; subtitle 14px 400; stat captions 10.5px 600 uppercase with 1.2px letter-spacing; legend 12px 500.
- Geist Mono with tabular figures for every live number: the current rate 48px 600 (-1.5px letter-spacing), secondary stats 22px 500, axis labels 11px 400, ticker ids and amounts 12.5px, ticker details 10.5px.

Layout:
- Main column from x 56 to about 650; a ticker sidebar 212px wide on the right, running almost the full height.
- Top: a LIVE pill (58 x 22, fully rounded, coral at 14% fill with a 50% coral outline, a 3.5px coral dot and "LIVE" in 11.5px 700 coral), then the eyebrow; below them the title stating the pace versus last year, then the subtitle.
- A stat row: the big current rate with "orders/min" and "right now" stacked beside it, then two more stats separated by 1px #232328 vertical rules.
- Chart below, with the legend right-aligned just above the plot. Source line at the bottom left in 11.5px #5C5C64.
- Sidebar: "Recent orders" header with a right-aligned "auto-scroll" caption and a hairline under it; rows every 46px (order id left, amount right, "3 items · 13:59:58" below in #5C5C64). The newest row sits in a coral 8% highlight with a coral dot and coral amount. The bottom 140px fade into the panel color with a gradient so the list looks like it scrolls.

Axes and grid:
- Horizontal gridlines only, 1px #26262B dashed 2 on 4, with a solid baseline; y labels right-aligned to the left of the plot.
- Time labels in mono under the plot, first and last aligned to the plot edges.

Marks:
- Line chart: the live series as a 2px coral straight-segment line with a glow (Gaussian blur of 4 merged under the line), over an area fill fading from coral at 28% to 6% at 60% of the height and 0 at the baseline. Last year's series is a 1.6px #7A7A84 line dashed 4 on 3. The leading point is a pulsing dot: a 20px radial coral halo (45% to 0), an 11px coral ring at 35% opacity, and a 4.5px solid coral dot with a 2px background-colored ring. Annotate one event with a 1px #8B8B93 leader and an 11.5px caption.
- Bar chart: thin columns in coral (1px gaps, square tops) with the latest column brightest and earlier columns at 70% opacity, last year as a dashed #7A7A84 step line over them, and the same pulsing dot on top of the newest column.

Avoid: light backgrounds, more than one bright color, rounded chunky bars, heavy chart borders, and a legend box.

When you're done, render the chart and check that the big current rate equals the last data point, the pace multiple in the title is computed from the data, the glow isn't clipped at the plot edges, and the ticker fade hides the overflowing rows cleanly inside the panel.
