Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Channel Mix" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a growth team's monthly mix report printed on warm paper. Vivid but harmonious color blocks, a flowing sense of shares shifting over time, and a legend that reads like the last column's key.

Colors (use these exact values), in stacking order from the bottom:
- Series 1: #D9472B (tomato), label text white.
- Series 2: #F2A93B (marigold), label text #3A2408.
- Series 3: #138A7E (teal), label text white.
- Series 4: #2B55B0 (cobalt), label text white.
- Series 5: #5B2A4E (eggplant), label text white.
- Canvas: #FCEBDD (soft peach). Ink: #2A1E1A. Secondary text and ticks: #7A6358.
- Flow bands use each series color at 28% opacity.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Syne 700 for the title (30px, -0.6px letter-spacing, #2A1E1A, stating the finding) and legend series names (15px). Syne is very wide: keep titles short.
- Manrope with tabular figures for everything else: subtitle 15px 500 #7A6358 (measure, unit, period); segment value labels 13px 700; month labels 13px 600 #7A6358 (the latest month 800 in ink); y labels 12px 500; legend detail lines 12px 500; source 12px.

Layout:
- 56px left margin; title baseline y 64, subtitle y 96.
- Plot from x 88 to 728, y 150 to 516. Legend column starts about 22px right of the last bar and runs to x 904.
- Source line at y 572.

Axes and grid:
- No gridlines and no axis lines. Y labels at 0, 25, 50, 75, 100% right-aligned 12px left of the plot, each with a 6px tick in #7A6358.
- Category labels centered 24px below the plot bottom.

Marks:
- Bar chart: 100% stacked vertical columns, 56px wide in an 80px slot (narrow 24px gaps). Each segment is its own rect with 3px corner radius and a 2px gap between segments (inset 1px top and bottom). Between every pair of adjacent columns, draw a flow band for each series: a shape from the segment's top and bottom edges on the right side of one column to the same segment's edges on the left side of the next, with cubic curves whose control points sit at the gap's midpoint (a smooth S when levels change). Flow bands go behind the columns. Put the value (no % sign) centered inside any segment at least 22px tall.
- Line chart: draw it as a 100% stacked area in the same colors and order with straight-edged boundaries at each period, 2px peach separators between layers, and the same legend column; the translucent flow idea becomes full-opacity bands. Label values at the last period inside each band.

Labels and annotation:
- Legend down the right side, each entry vertically centered on the matching segment of the last column: a 10px connector line in the series color at mid height, a 6 x 24 px rounded pill (rx 3), the series name in Syne 15px 700 ink, and under it "27% +15 pts since Feb" in Manrope 12px 500 #7A6358 (use a true minus sign for declines). Compute the change from the data.

Avoid: outlines around bars, gridlines, a boxed legend at the top, 3D, gradients, percentage signs inside every segment, and flow bands at full opacity on a bar chart.

When you're done, render the chart and check that every column sums to 100%, the flow bands meet segment edges exactly, legend entries line up with the last column's segments without touching each other, and no value label is squeezed into a segment too small for it.
