Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Chain Custody" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a traceability impact report for a producer cooperative, presented on a deep teal-black screen. Modern and quietly optimistic: bright mint for what can be proven, muted coral for what slips away at each hand-off.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Page: #0C1C1B (deep teal-black).
- Start and final totals: #5EE6B8 (bright mint); the start bar at 90% opacity, the final bar solid with a soft glow.
- Losses or unverified volume: #E07A6B (muted coral) at 85% opacity, and their value labels.
- Primary text #E8F2EF, secondary text and connectors #7F9A95, gridlines #1D3432.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Outfit for all text. Eyebrow 12px 500 uppercase with 2.4px letter-spacing in mint; title 29px 600 with -0.3px letter-spacing in #E8F2EF, stating the finding; subtitle 16px 300 gray; step names 13.5px 500 ink with a second line in 12.5px 400 gray; drop values 15px 600 coral; start total 16px 600; final percentage 34px 800 mint with the verified volume in 14px 600 beneath it; axis values 12px.

Layout:
- 56px side margins. Eyebrow, title and subtitle top left. Plot from x 96 to 904 with the baseline at y 456; categories fill equal slots with 66px bars.
- Under each hand-off a chain-link icon: two interlocking rounded rectangles (13 x 8, 4px radius, 1.6px gray stroke, overlapping by 4px) just left of the step name.
- One short annotation in the empty space under the largest drop: a thin coral tick, a 15px 600 ink headline and two 13.5px 300 gray lines of explanation.
- Footer rule at y 530; a key (mint "Traceable volume", coral "Lost or unverified at hand-off") on the left and the source on the right, 12.5px.

Axes and grid:
- Horizontal 1px #1D3432 gridlines with values right-aligned 16px left of the plot; a 1.2px gray baseline. No vertical grid.

Marks:
- Bar chart: a waterfall. Start bar from zero in mint with a 3px radius; each drop a floating coral bar from the running level down by the loss (2px radius) with its "-64 t" label 20px below the bar; 1px dotted gray connectors (2 on 3 off) at the running level between bars; the final bar from zero in solid mint with a Gaussian blur glow copy (stdDeviation 9, 45% opacity) behind it and the percentage retained above it.
- Line chart: a stepped mint line of the running verified volume stepping down at each hand-off, with coral vertical segments for the drops, coral labels at each step, and a large mint end point carrying the final percentage.

Avoid: truncating the y axis, green-to-red gradients, bright saturated reds, drop shadows on every bar, and more than one glow.

When you're done, render the chart and check that the start minus all drops equals the final bar, the percentage is final divided by start, the chain icons do not touch the step names, and the glow is not clipped.
