Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Capital Stack" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a leveraged finance comparison page from a buyout firm's credit committee pack. Ink blue and copper, tonal and orderly, with the equity cap as the one warm element.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Background: #0D1B2A (ink blue).
- Debt tranches, darkest at the bottom of each column: senior debt #1F5080, unitranche #4C8BC4, mezzanine #A9CBEA.
- Equity cap: #C8743C (copper), with its label in #FFF4EA and a small caption in #FBE3D2. Reference line and label: #E8A878.
- Primary text: #EAF0F6. Secondary text: #8397AD. Gridlines: #1E3147.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Barlow 600 for the title (29px, -0.2px letter-spacing, stating the finding).
- Barlow Semi Condensed for everything else: eyebrow 12px 600 copper uppercase with 2.4px letter-spacing; subtitle 15px gray; axis labels 12px; equity share 19px 700 with a 9.5px 600 "EQUITY" caption (1.4px letter-spacing); tranche shares 13px 600, printed on every slice of 8% or more; deal names 14px 600; leverage multiples 16px 700 copper; years 11.5px gray; legend 10.5px 600 uppercase with 1px letter-spacing.

Layout:
- Eyebrow, title and subtitle at a 48px left margin.
- Plot from x 96 to 790 with 58px columns in equal slots; under each column three centered lines: deal name, leverage multiple in copper, year.
- A slim vertical legend along the right edge beyond a 1px #1E3147 divider: 10px wide swatches stacked in the same order as the columns (senior at the bottom, equity at the top) with their names rotated -90 degrees beside them and a small "Top of stack" note above.
- Footer rule with a source line and the sort order note.

Axes and grid:
- Percent labels every 25% at the left and 1px #1E3147 gridlines. No axis lines.
- A dashed (5 on, 4 off) 1.2px #E8A878 line at the average equity boundary (100% minus the average equity share, since equity sits on top). Just right of the plot, a 1.5px #E8A878 bracket runs from the 100% edge down to that line, with a stacked label ("Avg", "equity", the percentage in 700 14px) centered beside it, so the share reads as measured from the top of the stack.

Marks:
- Bar chart: 100% stacked columns, square cornered, with 1.5px gaps of background between debt tranches and no gap under the equity cap. The equity share is printed inside the top of the copper cap; tranche shares of 10% or more print centered in their segment (dark #0D1B2A text on the lightest blue, light text elsewhere). Omit empty tranches. Sort columns by equity share.
- Line chart: one 2.5px line per tranche in the same colors, with copper as the emphasized line (3px, r 4 dots with value labels) and the blues at 2px, labeled at the right end instead of a legend.

Avoid: more than one warm color, gradients, rounded corners, 3D, and any real sponsor, lender or company names.

When you're done, render the chart and check that every column sums to 100%, the equity percentages match the title's range, the legend order matches the stacking order, and the rotated legend labels fit their swatches.
