Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Campaign Log" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a game master's campaign journal read by candlelight. Dark brown parchment, an old-style book face for the title, warm amber and cool teal ink, and numbered red wax seals marking the story's turning points.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Page: #2A2118, with a radial vignette to black at 35% opacity at the edges (transparent inside 60% of the radius).
- Series: #E0A53C (amber) first, #6FA3A0 (muted teal) second. Area fills beneath each line in the same color at 12% opacity.
- Seals: #9A3B2C, with an inner ring of #C8705C at 0.8px.
- Primary text: #EFE4CC (pale cream). Secondary text and the border: #B3A58A. Gridlines: #4A3C2C.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- IM Fell English for the title (34px 400 cream, stating the finding) and the numbers in the seals (15px; 11px in the key).
- Lora for everything else: italic 14px kicker naming the campaign; subtitle 14.5px #B3A58A with measures and units; panel labels 11.5px 600 uppercase with 1.8px letter-spacing in the series color; tick labels 12px #B3A58A; value callouts 13px 600 in the series color; key entries 13px cream; source 12px italic.

Layout:
- A quiet double border: a 1px #B3A58A rectangle 22px in at 55% opacity and a 0.5px one 28px in at 40%.
- Kicker at y 70, title at y 110, subtitle at y 138, 60px left margin.
- A row of seals at y 172 marking story beats, each with a 1px dotted guide (1 on 3, 70% opacity) running down through the plot.
- When the chart has two measures in different units, never put them on two y scales: stack two panels on the shared x axis (the first about 118px tall, the second about 96px, 42px apart), each with its own labeled scale.
- Below the plot a 1px #4A3C2C rule and a key row: a small seal, then "Beat name, session N".

Axes and grid:
- Horizontal gridlines 0.8px #4A3C2C (zero line 1.2px), labels right-aligned 12px left of the plot. No vertical axis line.
- X labels every fifth step, 22px under the lower panel, with an italic axis title ("Session") left of the first label.

Marks:
- Line chart: 2.4px straight-segment lines with round joins over their 12% area fill. Mark the peak, the notable low and the latest point with a 4px dot ringed 1.5px in the page color and a 13px 600 value label; offset any label that would sit on a line with a 1px leader.
- Bar chart: square-cornered bars in amber (second series in teal, 3px apart when grouped) at about 60% of the band on a 1.2px #4A3C2C baseline, value labels 13px 600 above, the same seals and dotted guides for story beats.
- Seals: a 12px-radius circle with a gently scalloped edge (36 points alternating +1.4 and -0.6px), the inner ring, and the beat number in cream.

Avoid: parchment photo textures, torn edges, drop shadows, fantasy script fonts for data, bright red, and a dual y axis.

When you're done, render the chart and check that every seal is fully visible and matches its key entry, labels sit clear of lines, the vignette does not darken any text, and the title's claim is arithmetically true.
