Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Cabinet Sign" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a big backlit roadside cabinet sign at night, its translucent faces glowing between black mullions above a wet street. Bold, legible and cheerful.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Night sky: #101218 (a vertical gradient from #0A0C12 at the top to #101218 at 75% and #15171E at the street line). Pavement #0C0D12 below a 1.2px #23262F curb line.
- Faces: tomato red #E5322D, sunflower yellow #FFC93C and warm white #FFF4DD. Each face has a vertical gradient from 82% opacity at the top to full in the middle to 78% at the bottom, over a #14161D back, plus a centered white hotspot at 22% opacity fading to 0.
- Mullions: #0A0B0F.
- Cabinet body: #1D2029 with a 2px #2E323D edge and a #14161D inner retainer 6px in.
- Label text on faces: #2A1D00 on yellow, #FFF4E6 on red, #2A2014 on warm white. Row labels #E9E4DA, title #F5F1E8, subtitle #9097A6, legend text #C9CDD6, source #5E6474.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Barlow Condensed throughout. Title 34px 700 uppercase with 0.6px letter-spacing, stating the finding. Subtitle 18px 500 sentence case. Legend 16px 600 uppercase. Row labels 21px 600 uppercase with 1.2px letter-spacing. Segment values 26px 700 centered in each face. Source 13px 500 uppercase with 1.4px letter-spacing.

Layout:
- Title at (60, 70), subtitle at y 98, a legend row of lit chips (26 x 16, 2px mullion border) at y 116.
- The cabinet spans x 60 to 900 and y 150 to 452. Row labels sit on the dark cabinet body, right-aligned at x 220; the lit faces run from x 238 to 884 and from y 166 to 436.
- Two short 14px-wide posts under the cabinet meet the curb at y 462. Source at the bottom left.

Axes and grid:
- No axes or gridlines. The mullions are the structure: 6px wide between rows and at every segment seam, and a 4px mullion border around the whole face area.

Marks:
- Bar chart (100% stacked): each segment is one illuminated face filling its share of the row, rows touching except for the 6px mullions. Put the percentage inside every face. Add seam bleed: a copy of the mullions blurred 2.4px at 55% opacity under the crisp mullions, so a little dark bleeds into the light at each seam.
- Line chart: draw the plot area as a single lit warm white face inside the cabinet, with 6px mullion gridlines, and the lines as 8px strokes in #E5322D and a darker amber #C98A00 with square caps, point values in Barlow Condensed 700 on small lit chips.

Effects:
- Light spill: a copy of the faces blurred 16px at 50% opacity behind the cabinet.
- Street reflection: the faces and mullions mirrored about the curb line, blurred 5px horizontally and 2px vertically at 70% opacity, masked by a gradient from 32% to 0 so it fades within the pavement. Never reflect the text.
- All blurs use a filter region covering the whole canvas.

Avoid: rounded bar ends, gaps between segments other than mullions, thin fonts, gradients across a whole row, labels outside the faces for the segments, reflected text.

When you're done, render the chart and check that each row sums to 100, every face label has strong contrast on its color, the mullions line up at the seams, and the reflection fades out before the bottom edge.
