Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Burn Multiple" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a startup operator's efficiency board at a late-night board prep. Dark, technical and to the point: a warm red cost line, a bright spring green growth line, and a slim ratio strip that says whether the trade is worth it.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Background: #0C1410 (blackened green) for the whole canvas.
- Cost series (net burn): #F2664E (warm red). Growth series (net new ARR): #7EE36A (spring green).
- Ratio sparkline: #D4DED7 (pale gray-green); points at or under the reference turn #7EE36A.
- Primary text: #E4EDE6. Secondary text: #7D8C83. Gridlines: #1D2A23; zero line #3A4A41; crossover marker #34463B.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Figtree 700 for the title (32px, -0.5px letter-spacing, #E4EDE6, stating when the ratio crossed the threshold) and series labels (14px); Figtree 400 for the 15px subtitle, which also defines the ratio; Figtree 600 12px for the crossover note.
- Sometype Mono for every figure: eyebrow 11.5px uppercase with 1.6px letter-spacing in spring green, axis labels 11 to 11.5px #7D8C83, end values 13px, ratio labels 11 to 13px, source 11px.

Layout:
- 56px side margins. Header at top left. Main plot from x 96 to 790 and y 176 to 404, leaving 110px on the right for end labels. Period labels under the plot at y 426.
- A 1px #1D2A23 rule across the full width at y 440, then the ratio strip from y 476 to 540 using the same x positions, titled "BURN MULTIPLE" in 11px 700 mono at its top right.
- A dashed vertical crossover line (1px #34463B, 3 on 4 off) at the first period below the reference, drawn in two segments (main plot, then ratio strip) so it never crosses the period labels, with a short note at its top.

Axes and grid:
- 1px horizontal gridlines at whole units with mono "$2M" labels right-aligned left of the plot. No vertical grid, no axis lines.
- Ratio strip: a band from 0 to the 1.0x reference filled #7EE36A at 12% opacity with a dashed (4 on 3 off) #7EE36A line at 1.0x, labeled "1.0x" at left and "under 1.0x: efficient" inside the band. Light 1px #1D2A23 gridlines at 2.0x and 3.0x with #7D8C83 mono labels give the strip its scale.

Marks:
- Line chart: both series as 2.75px straight-segment lines with open circle markers at every period end (4.2px radius, background fill, 2px stroke in the series color). Labels at the line ends (name in Figtree 700 plus latest value in mono, same color) instead of a legend. Ratio sparkline 1.75px #D4DED7 with 2.4px dots (3.8px for the last), first and last values labeled.
- Bar chart: grouped pairs per period, red and green, square-cornered, each about 34% of the band with a 3px gap, value labels in mono above; keep the ratio strip with its sparkline and reference band below, and label the series at the right end of the last group.

Avoid: dual y axes (the ratio lives only in its strip), a legend box, gradients, neon glows, and filled markers on the main lines.

When you're done, render the chart and check that the ratio equals the first series divided by the second at every period, the crossover line sits on the first period under 1.0x, the end labels do not collide, and the strip shares the main plot's x positions.
