Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Bump Table" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a league table told as a story, on a dark graphite broadcast graphic. Everyone else fades into muted color; one club glows lime as it climbs.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Background #1A1C20 graphite. Title #F1F2EE; secondary text #8C9099; week labels #B5B9C1 (emphasized) and #5E636D; row guides #262930; week dividers #2A2D34.
- Highlight lime #B8F135 for the focus series, its discs, callouts and the eyebrow.
- Muted series colors, one per item, shown at 40% opacity: #6F93C8 dusty blue, #D08260 terracotta, #B08AC4 mauve, #58B3A8 teal, #D2B062 sand, #D07490 rose, #8E9AAE slate.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Big Shoulders Display for the title (800, 40px, sentence case, stating the finding) and item names (600, 19px, uppercase, 0.4px letter-spacing; the focus item 800 in lime).
- Archivo for everything else: eyebrow 12px 600 uppercase with 2px letter-spacing in lime; subtitle 15px #8C9099; week labels 11px (600 for "WK 1", "WK 5" and so on, 400 for the plain numbers); numbers inside discs 10.5px 700 (12px 800 for the focus item); footnotes 12px.

Layout:
- 48px margins. Eyebrow y 58, title y 104, subtitle y 132, week labels in a row at y 160 centered over each column.
- Plot from x 84 to 700, rows 48px apart starting at y 178, position 1 at the top.
- A right-hand "table": a short 2px connector in each item's color from the last disc, then the item name at x 740 and its final value right-aligned at x 912, headed "FINAL" and "PTS" in 11px 600 uppercase.
- A 1px #2A2D34 rule under the plot, source bottom left and a short method note bottom right.

Axes and grid:
- No y axis: the discs carry the ranks. Faint 1px #262930 horizontal guides at each rank and dashed #2A2D34 verticals every 5 periods.

Marks:
- Line chart (bump): each item is a 6px line with round caps, made of cubic S-curves between periods (both control points at the horizontal midpoint), so rank swaps cross smoothly. At every period a r 10 disc in the item's color with a 2px background-colored ring and the rank number inside in #1A1C20. All non-focus lines, discs and numbers sit in a group at 40% opacity. The focus item is drawn last: a 13px background-colored halo, a 7px lime line, and r 11.5 lime discs. Add one small lime uppercase callout (e.g. "LAST, WK 3") under a key disc.
- Bar chart: grouped vertical bars per period are wrong for ranks; instead draw a ranked horizontal bar per item for the latest period, sorted by rank, with a 6px-tall rounded strip of rank discs (one per period) under each bar, non-focus items at 40% opacity and the focus item in lime at full opacity.

Avoid: a legend (label at the line ends), bright colors for non-focus items, gradients, glows, straight zigzag segments and thin lines under 5px.

When you're done, render the chart and check that every period has exactly one disc per rank, the focus line sits on top of every crossing, the fade is 40% for everything else, and the end labels do not collide with the values column.
