Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Bullet Scorecard" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: the strategic scorecard slide in a leadership review. Dark navy, orderly rows of bullet charts, crisp white actuals and warm coral targets, readable at a glance from the back of the room.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Slide: #101C33 (dark navy). Row dividers: #1F2D4A.
- Qualitative bands, from poor to good: #2A3A58, #3A4D70, #52668D.
- Actual bars: #FFFFFF. Target ticks, the scorecard tag and its outline: #FF7A59 (warm coral).
- Status: on track #3DD68C as a filled dot, at risk #FFC24B as a hollow ring (shape differs as well as color), each followed by its word.
- Primary text: #FFFFFF. Secondary text: #8C9BB8. Scale-max labels: #5D6C8C.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Poppins for the headline (600, 27px, white, sentence case, stating how many KPIs are on track) and KPI names (500, 15px, white).
- Inter for everything small: tag 600 10px uppercase with 1.4px letter-spacing; context line and legend 400 12 and 11.5px #8C9BB8; subtitle 13px #8C9BB8; unit lines 11px #8C9BB8; actual values 600 15px white; target lines 10.5px; status words 500 11.5px in the status color; scale max 10px.

Layout:
- 56px margins. A pill tag ("H1 SCORECARD", 112 x 22 px, fully rounded, coral at 14% fill with a 1px coral stroke) at top left, followed by a context line. Headline baseline 96px, subtitle 124px, then a one-row legend (Poor, Fair, Good swatches, Actual, Target) at 156px.
- One row per KPI, 52px tall, starting at y 184, separated by 1px #1F2D4A rules. Columns: KPI name with a unit line beneath (x 56), bullet from x 290 to 736, scale max just right of the bullet, actual value and "target N" right-aligned at x 820, status dot at x 840 with its word after it.
- Footer at baseline 578: source at the left and "Strategy review | 09" at the right.

Axes and grid:
- Each KPI has its own linear scale from 0 to a round maximum, written as a small label at the right end of the bands. No gridlines, no axis lines, no ticks.

Marks:
- Bar chart: horizontal bullet charts. Three 24px-tall square-cornered bands stacked end to end behind an 8px-tall white actual bar starting at zero, and a 3 x 30 px coral target tick that extends past the bands. Figures for actual and target sit at the right, never inside the bullet.
- Line chart: one small-multiple row per series, each a 2px white line over the same three horizontal bands (shaded as bands of value from poor to good), a 3px coral horizontal target line segment at the right end, the latest point as a 4px white dot, and the same name, value and status columns.

Avoid: rounded bars, gradients, glows, color-coded actual bars (status lives only in the dot and word), gridlines, and a shared axis across KPIs with different units.

When you're done, render the chart and check that the headline count equals the number of on-track rows, every actual and target sits on its own scale correctly, the target ticks are visible against all three bands, and the status column aligns row to row.
