Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Bubble Bars" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: translucent candy-colored plastic from the year 2000, like the launch page for a portable music player. Glossy, bubbly and fun, but laid out with the discipline of a real product report.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Background: #F4F8FC (icy white) with a large soft radial glow on top, centered slightly right of and above the middle: #CFE6F7 at the center, #E6F1FA at 60%, #F4F8FC at the edge.
- Series, in order: Aqua #1FB5D6 (shade #0B86A6, light #9BE9F7), Lime #8CC63F (shade #5A9419, light #D3F29C), Lilac #A78BFA (shade #7556DB, light #DDD1FF). Use the series order consistently in bars, legend and lines.
- Title and label ink: #1C2B4A. Secondary text: #5D6B85. Gridlines: #BFD4E6. Footer tag: #8A97AD.
- Chrome pills: vertical gradient #FFFFFF, #DCE3EB, #C3CDD9 (hard break just past the middle), #EEF2F7, outline #95A5B8.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Audiowide for the title (29px, #1C2B4A, sentence case, stating the finding) and the small footer tag (11px, 2px letter-spacing, uppercase).
- Varela Round for everything else: subtitle 15px #5D6B85 with measure, unit and period; legend 14px; axis labels 13px; category labels 15px with 0.5px letter-spacing; value labels 12.5px #1C2B4A; source 12px.

Layout:
- 48px margins. Title baseline at y 74. A swoosh under the title: a 3.5px round-capped curve from (40, 98) sweeping to (700, 82), stroked with a gradient that fades in from transparent to #1FB5D6, blends to #A78BFA and fades out, plus a second 1.2px echo curve a few pixels below at 70% opacity.
- Subtitle at y 136 on the left, legend on the same line at the right: small 11 x 20 capsules in each series' glossy gradient followed by the series name.
- Plot from x 110 to 910, baseline at y 432, top of scale at y 190. Category labels 92px below the baseline, under the reflections. Source bottom-left at y 572, footer tag bottom-right.

Axes and grid:
- No axis lines. Three dotted gridlines (1px #BFD4E6, dash 2 on 5 off) with labels like "10k" right-aligned 14px left of the plot.
- The baseline is a glass shelf: an 8px tall, fully rounded strip running 20px past the plot on each side, filled with a vertical gradient from #FFFFFF at 90% to #B9D3E6 at 50%, a 0.8px #A9C2D6 outline and a 1.2px #FFFFFF highlight line 1.5px below its top.

Marks:
- Bar chart: every bar is a glossy translucent capsule, 44px wide, corner radius 22 (fully rounded top and bottom), 12px apart within a group, bars starting at zero on the shelf. Fill: a horizontal gradient shade, base color at 30%, light tint at 62%, shade at the right edge, at 90% opacity, with a 1px outline in the shade at 55%. On top: a white gloss cap inset 6px from each side and 4px from the top, up to 40% of the bar height (max 58px), fully rounded, fading from white 95% to 5%; a 3px white streak (45%) down the left side; and a soft white ellipse (28%) near the bottom as if light pools inside the plastic.
- Reflection: mirror all bars below the shelf (flip around the baseline, offset 8px down), at 80% opacity, masked by a gradient that fades from 50% to 0% over 74px, so they dissolve like reflections on glass.
- Value labels in small chrome pills (50 x 21px, fully rounded, with a 7px white 70% gloss bar across the top) centered 9px above each capsule.
- Line chart: each series is a 7px round-capped tube in the same glossy gradient idea: an 8px stroke in the shade, a 5px stroke in the base color and a 1.8px white stroke (60%) shifted up 1.5px for the gloss. Points are 9px glossy bubbles (radial gradient light tint to base to shade, with a white highlight dot), the last point of each series carries a chrome value pill, and a faint reflection of the lines fades below the shelf baseline the same way.

Avoid: flat fills, dark backgrounds, square bar corners, drop shadows that look muddy, heavy gridlines, more than three hues, and truncated axes.

When you're done, render the chart and check that the capsules read as glossy translucent plastic, the reflections fade out fully before the category labels, no chrome pill collides with a neighbor, and the swoosh sits under the title without touching the subtitle or legend.
