Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Board-Formed" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a construction site progress wall. Raw board-formed concrete with tie holes, data spray-painted through stencils in off-white, one safety orange accent and a bolted site plate. Tough, utilitarian, confident.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Concrete: #3A3B3C for the whole canvas.
- Marks and primary lettering: #E6E4DF (stencil off-white).
- Accent: #FF6B1A (safety orange), only for the peak marker, its guide line and tag, the peak category label and the site plate's band.
- Secondary stencil text: #A9A8A4 (pale gray). Tie holes: #242526 with a #18191A core. Plank seams #2A2B2C and #4E4F50. Grain streaks #2E2F30 and #4A4B4C. Dark text on orange: #1E1F20.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Archivo Black for the title (29px, uppercase, 0.5px letter-spacing, off-white, stating the finding) and the plate code (22px).
- Space Mono for everything else, uppercase: subtitle 13px #A9A8A4 with 1px letter-spacing on two lines (measure and unit, then place and period); headline totals 13px right aligned (700 off-white, then 400 pale gray); axis numbers 11px; category labels 13px 700 with 1.5px letter-spacing; sub-labels 10.5px; value labels 14px 700; footer 11px with 1.5px letter-spacing.

Texture:
- Board-formed planks: horizontal 50px courses, each tinted slightly lighter or darker (black or white at 3 to 8% opacity), nine faint wavy grain streaks per course (0.6 to 1.8px, 55%), and a seam at each course top: a 1.2px #2A2B2C line with a 0.6px #4E4F50 line 1.3px below.
- Tie holes on a regular 200 x 150 grid starting at (130, 140): r 7 #242526 with a 1.2px #56575A lower rim and an r 3.2 #18191A core. Keep the grid regular and place it so no hole sits on text.

Layout:
- Site plate at top left: 132 x 84 at (44, 34), #55575A, 3px radius, 1.5px #2A2B2C edge, an inner 0.8px #6E7073 border, four r 2.4 bolts, the code (HMS-03) and an orange band (100 x 18) with dark text naming the location.
- Title block to the right of the plate from x 204: title baseline 70, subtitle 98 and 116. Totals right aligned at x 916.
- Plot from x 118 to 892, baseline y 452, top of scale y 176. Category labels 26px below the baseline with two lines of pale gray sub-labels (pour numbers, P001 then the en-dashed last number) at 44 and 58. Footer at y 566.

Axes and grid:
- Gridlines at round values: 1px off-white dashed (2 6) at 22% opacity, extending 14px beyond the plot. Axis numbers right aligned 22px left of the plot.
- Baseline: 2px off-white at 80% with the soft stencil blur.

Marks:
- Line chart: spray-stenciled. Draw three layers: an overspray of about 70 tiny off-white dots per segment (r 0.4 to 1.2) scattered normally about 12px either side of the line at 35% opacity; a 12px off-white halo stroke at 10% opacity blurred with stdDeviation 4; then the 3.6px off-white core line with square caps and round joins and 9px square markers, both blurred with stdDeviation 0.6 so edges look sprayed. The peak marker is a 12px orange square.
- Bar chart: square-cornered off-white bars about 50% of the slot, with the same 0.6 blur and overspray dots along their edges; the peak bar in orange.
- Peak: a 1.5px orange vertical line from the baseline to the top of the scale, with an orange tag (174 x 22) to its right reading PEAK and the value in 12.5px 700 dark text.
- Label only the first and last values directly (below the line), and put the peak's value in the tag.

Avoid: glossy effects, gradients on marks, rounded corners, more than one accent color, clean vector-sharp marks, and texture strong enough to compete with the line.

When you're done, render the chart and check that the concrete planks and tie holes are visible but quiet at thumbnail size, no tie hole overlaps text, the sprayed marks look soft but still crisp enough to read, orange appears only on the peak elements and the plate, and the title's peak value matches the data.
