Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Blueprint" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: an engineering drawing. White linework on blueprint paper, dimension lines, hatched sections, a title block and one handwritten note.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Sheet: #0B3A6F. Linework and primary text: #EAF2FF. Secondary text and axes: #9CC3F0. Highlight (the element that matters, spec lines, the handwritten note): #7FDBFF.
- Paper grid: minor lines every 12px in white at 7% opacity, major lines every 60px in white at 15% opacity.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- IBM Plex Mono for everything technical. Title 24px 600 uppercase with 4px letter-spacing. Subtitle 13px uppercase with 2px letter-spacing in #9CC3F0. Axis labels 12px. Value labels 12px 500. Notes 11px. Title block labels 11px, values 13px 500.
- Architects Daughter, 20px, #7FDBFF, for a single handwritten annotation only.

Layout:
- A double drawing border: 1.5px at 20px inset and a 60% opacity hairline at 28px inset.
- Title and subtitle top left. The plot occupies the left 70%. On the right: a NOTES block (numbered, uppercase, short) near the top, and a title block in the bottom-right corner with four rows (DWG NO., SCALE, UNITS, SHEET), each key left in #9CC3F0 and value right in #EAF2FF, separated by hairlines.

Axes:
- The y-axis is a dimension line: a thin #9CC3F0 line with 12px cross ticks at each round value, labels right-aligned to its left.
- The baseline is a 2px #EAF2FF ground line.
- Categories sit in 15px-radius circular callout bubbles below the baseline, joined to the bars by thin leader lines, like drawing tags.
- Any threshold is a dash-dot line (10 4 2 4) in #7FDBFF with a small uppercase label.

Marks:
- Bar chart: outline-only bars with a 1.5px #EAF2FF stroke, filled with 45-degree hatching (1.2px lines every 7px at 45% opacity). The highlighted bar uses a #7FDBFF stroke and denser cyan hatching. Above each bar, a short extension line and the value.
- Line chart: a 1.5px #EAF2FF polyline with 5px hollow circles at each vertex and the highlighted series in #7FDBFF. Add hatching between the line and the baseline for the highlighted series only.
- Add a dimension line with arrowheads at both ends beside the highlighted mark, plus one handwritten note with a curved arrow pointing to it.

Avoid: solid fills, gradients, shadows, rounded corners (except the callout circles), and more than one handwritten note.

When you're done, render the chart and check that the note, dimension line and threshold label don't collide with each other or with the bars.
