Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Blue Slide" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: an early business-graphics 35mm presentation slide. Deep royal blue, a yellow headline with a hard black drop shadow, a thin white frame and bold, simple white data marks.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Background: vertical linear gradient from #0A1C6B at the top to #03092E at the bottom.
- Title and callouts: yellow #FFD23F. Title shadow: #000000.
- Data marks, frame, baseline and category labels: #FFFFFF. Secondary text: pale blue #AEB9E8. Gridlines: #2A3C8C.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Rubik 700 for the title, 44px, title case, stating the finding, with a hard (unblurred) drop shadow: the same text in black offset 3px right and 3px down.
- Arimo for everything else: subtitle 18px pale blue; axis labels 15px pale blue; category labels 16px 700 white; callout headline 18px 700 yellow with a 15px white second line; source 13px; slide tag 13px 700 with 1px letter-spacing.

Layout:
- A 1.5px white frame inset 18px from every edge (85% opacity).
- Title at x 60, baseline y 94; subtitle at y 128. Plot from y 176 to 488, x 120 to 870.
- Bottom right: a "Slide 14" tag in a 100 x 26 px box outlined 1.2px white. Source line bottom left.

Axes and grid:
- 1px #2A3C8C gridlines every round step with labels 32px left of the plot; a 2px white baseline; bold white category labels 28px below.

Marks:
- Line chart: a 6px white straight-segment line with miter joins, a hard shadow copy in black at 55% opacity offset 3px right and down, and 14px white square markers outlined 2px in #0A1C6B. Additional series use yellow #FFD23F then pale blue #AEB9E8 with the same weight and markers.
- Bar chart: flat white bars (about 55% of the band, square corners) with the same 55% black hard shadow offset 4px, values in 16px bold white above; highlight one bar in yellow. Bars start at zero.
- Callouts: for two or three key points, a 1.5px yellow leader from the point to a 5px yellow bullet dot, then the yellow headline and a white explanatory line, placed in empty space.

Avoid: blur, glows, soft shadows, rounded corners, thin lines under 1px and more than three colors of marks.

When you're done, render the chart and check that the callouts sit in empty space without touching the line or labels, the title shadow is hard and offset down-right, and the frame is fully visible.
