Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Bloom Calendar" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a display garden's planting guide, printed on deep green like a botanical plate at dusk. Elegant serif names, soft flower colors that glow against the dark.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Page: #17201A (dark garden green). Alternate month tint: #1D2820 on every other month column.
- Mark colors, one per item, chosen from: violet #8E6FD1 (core #C3ADFF), butter #D9C25A (core #FFEC8F), rose #D0668B (core #FF9DBF), white #C9CFC6 (core #FFFFFF), blue #5E93D6 (core #A4CCFF), peach #E59A74 (core #FFC7A6). Never put two similar warm colors (butter and peach) on adjacent rows.
- Ink: #EDF1E8. Secondary text: #96A596. Row rules: #2C3A2F. Eyebrow: #B9D29A.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Gloock 400 for the title (30px, #EDF1E8, stating the finding) and row names (16px, #EDF1E8). Use curly quotes around cultivar names.
- Figtree for everything else: eyebrow 12px 600 uppercase with 2.4px letter-spacing; subtitle 15px #96A596; month labels 13px 600 with 0.4px letter-spacing, #96A596, centered on each month; legend 13px; source 12px.

Layout:
- 56px left margin. Eyebrow at y 54, title at y 96, subtitle at y 124.
- Row names left-aligned at x 56; the time axis runs from x 304 to 904 (12 equal months). Rows 30px tall starting about y 178, sorted by start date. Month labels 20px above the first row.
- A legend at the bottom showing one sample bar with its core and the phrase "Bloom period, with peak bloom as the bright core", with the source line on the left.

Axes and grid:
- No y axis and no vertical gridlines: the alternating month tints are the grid. 0.8px #2C3A2F rules between rows, from the row name to the right edge.

Marks:
- Bar chart (range bars): floating horizontal bars 16px tall with fully rounded ends (radius 8), from start to end, in the item's base color at 62% opacity. Inside, a brighter core bar of the same height with full rounding, in the core color at full opacity, spanning the peak period.
- Line chart: each series a 2.5px line in its base color with a translucent 16px band in the same color at 25% opacity marking its peak range; label each line at its right end in Gloock 15px. Keep the alternating month tints.

Avoid: a legend of plant colors (label rows directly), saturated primary colors, square bar ends, dense gridlines and bright white page elements.

When you're done, render the chart and check that every core sits inside its bar, adjacent rows never share near-identical colors, month labels are centered in their columns, and the headline count matches the data.
