Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Benefit Statement" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: the projection page of a printed pension or benefits statement that arrives by mail. Official, reassuring and plain: navy ink on white, a pale blue header band, a boxed headline number and fine print.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Page: #FFFFFF. Header band: #DCE8F5 (pale blue), 76px tall across the full width, with a 2px #1B2F55 rule beneath it.
- Ink, the line, dots and box border: #1B2F55 (navy).
- Highlight for the chosen point's ring, its value label and the box's top strip: #2F6DB5.
- Secondary text: #5B6778. Gridlines and dotted separators: #C9D3E0.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Merriweather for the title (700, 26px, navy, stating the finding, for example "Waiting from 62 to 70 raises your benefit by 77%") and the boxed hero figure (700, 50px, navy).
- Merriweather Sans for everything else: organization name in the band 13px 700 uppercase with 1.8px letter-spacing; band details 12px #5B6778; member number 12px 700 navy, right-aligned; subtitle 14px #5B6778; axis labels 12 to 13px; point value labels 11.5px #5B6778 (13px 700 #2F6DB5 for the chosen point); fine print 10px.

Layout:
- 48px side margins. Header band from y 0 to 76 with the organization name and statement date left, member number and page number right.
- Title at y 124, subtitle at y 152. Plot from x 104 to 600, y 196 to 440.
- A boxed figure at the right (x 640, 272 x 172px, white fill, 1.5px navy border, a 6px #2F6DB5 strip along its top edge) reading "Your estimated monthly benefit at 67" in 14px over the 50px hero value and a 12px unit line. Under it two key-value rows ("At 62 ... ,500 / month") separated by a dotted rule.
- A 0.8px navy rule at y 506, then an "ASSUMPTIONS" label (10px 700, 1.2px letter-spacing) followed by three lines of 10px fine print, then source left and a form number right.

Axes and grid:
- Four horizontal 0.8px #C9D3E0 gridlines, a 1.2px navy baseline, dollar labels right-aligned at x 94 in 12px #5B6778.
- Category labels (ages) centered 22px under the baseline in 13px navy, the chosen one bold, and an axis title ("Age when benefits begin") 22px lower in 12px.

Marks:
- Line chart: one straight-segment 2.5px navy line. A 5px dot at every category: white fill with a 2px navy stroke, the chosen category filled navy and ringed by a 12px-radius, 2.5px #2F6DB5 circle. Value labels alternate above (13px) and below (22px) the points to avoid collisions; the chosen label always goes above.
- Bar chart: slim navy outline bars (2px navy stroke, white fill) with the chosen bar filled navy and outlined by a 2.5px #2F6DB5 frame offset 4px; value labels above each bar in 11.5px.

Avoid: bright colors, gradients, shadows, rounded corners, icons, and any marketing tone; it should read as an official document.

When you're done, render the chart and check that the boxed figure matches the chosen point exactly, the headline percentage is arithmetically right, no value label collides with the line, and the fine print stays legible.
