Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Bedroom Noise" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: the overnight readout of a home sleep-study device. Black-blue screen, a thin instrument trace, monospaced type, and small orange flags on the moments that matter.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Background: #0C0F16 (black-blue).
- Main trace: #C9CED8 (pale gray).
- Event dots, event tags and the eyebrow: #FF8A3D (orange).
- Secondary measure panel line and its labels: #6F8FB0 (faded steel blue).
- Primary text and event ticks: #EDEFF3. Secondary text: #7C8494. Gridlines: #1C212C.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Anonymous Pro throughout. Eyebrow 700, 12px uppercase with 1.5px letter-spacing in orange ("HOME SLEEP STUDY / NIGHT 3 / BEDROOM MIC"). Title 700, 30px #EDEFF3, stating a computed finding. Subtitle 400, 15px #7C8494. Axis labels 12px #7C8494. Event tags 12px orange. Panel labels 11 to 12px steel blue.

Layout:
- 56px left margin. Eyebrow at y 58, title at y 94, subtitle at y 120.
- An event tick strip at y 158 to 170 above the plot (ticks 12px tall, 1.6px #EDEFF3, on a 1px #1C212C baseline) labeled "AROUSALS" at its left in 10px 700.
- Main plot x 76 to 900, y 196 to 424.
- A separate small panel (y 456 to 512) for the second measure, with its own two dashed reference lines and labels in its own unit. Never put a second measure on a right-hand axis.
- Time axis under the panel, then a key row at y 572 (orange dot "spike over 45 dBA", white tick "arousal scored from EEG") and "Source: illustrative data" right-aligned.

Axes and grid:
- Horizontal gridlines 1px #1C212C every 10 units, labels right-aligned left of the plot with the unit ("dBA") above them. Hourly 5px ticks and HH:00 labels on the time axis. No vertical gridlines.

Marks:
- Line chart: the main trace is a thin 1px #C9CED8 polyline (straight segments, no smoothing) so every spike stays sharp. Each flagged spike gets a 3.6px orange dot on its peak and a tag 30px above: the label in 12px orange inside a 17px tall, 0.8px orange outlined box with 2px corners. The panel line is 1.4px #6F8FB0 with its start value, minimum and end value labeled.
- Bar chart: thin 1px-wide pale gray bars (one per reading) rising from the panel baseline; flagged bars in orange with the same outlined tags, and the tick strip above.

Avoid: glow, smoothing, thick lines, filled areas, dual y axes, and more than one accent color.

When you're done, render the chart and check that every tag sits clear of the trace and of the tick strip, the title's count matches events that have a tick within three minutes, and the second measure has its own panel and scale.
