Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Balance Sheet" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a treasury-grade annual accounts page. Deep navy, a formal double silver frame with clipped corners, a high-contrast display serif headline and crisp stacked columns.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Page: #0D1526 (deep navy). Frame: #C7CED6 (treasury silver), a 1.5px outer path inset 18px with 14px clipped corners and a 0.5px inner path at 25px (70% opacity) with 10px clipped corners.
- Series, bottom to top: #C7CED6 (silver), #4F8FE8 (blue), #5EB8B0 (teal), #475569 (slate).
- Title #EEF1F5, secondary text #8A96A8, gridlines #1B2640, baseline #C7CED6.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Playfair Display 700 with lining figures for the title (29px, #EEF1F5, stating the finding).
- Raleway with lining, tabular figures for everything else: eyebrow 11px 700 uppercase with 3px letter-spacing in silver; subtitle 14px 500 #8A96A8; legend 12.5px 600; axis labels 12 to 12.5px 500; bar-top figures 12.5px 700 silver (14px white for the peak); source 11px 500.

Layout:
- 64px side margins. Eyebrow, title and subtitle top left, then a one-row legend (12px squares) with a right-aligned note explaining the figures above the bars.
- Chart below, about y 214 to 506. Year labels 22px under the baseline, the peak year 700 in #EEF1F5.

Axes and grid:
- Horizontal gridlines 1px #1B2640, a 1.2px silver baseline, plain numeric y labels right-aligned.

Marks:
- Bar chart: stacked columns 40px wide with square corners and a 1.5px navy gap between segments. Above each column, the total as a share of a reference (e.g. "48%"), 10px above the bar; the peak value gets a 1px silver box around its label.
- Line chart: stacked areas in the same order and colors with 1.5px navy boundaries between layers, the total line in 2px silver on top, and the share labels above selected points with the peak boxed.

Avoid: gradients, glows, rounded corners, drop shadows, and colors outside the palette.

When you're done, render the chart and check that the stacks sum to the plotted totals, the percentages above bars are arithmetically right, the frame's clipped corners are symmetric, and all numerals are lining.
