Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Arch Chart" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a dental odontogram turned into a mirrored bar chart on a dark blue-black screen. Ivory teeth, a gold accent, clinical and quietly elegant.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Page: #111620 (blue-black).
- Bars: #EDE6D6 (pale ivory).
- Highlight segment and highlighted labels: #D4A949 (crown gold).
- Center band: #1A2130. Gridlines and the center rule: #232B3A.
- Main text #F3EFE6, secondary text #8A93A6.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Fira Sans throughout: title 26px 600 #F3EFE6 stating the finding; subtitle 15px 400 #8A93A6 with totals; legend 13.5px; category numbers in the band 10.5px 500 (700 gold when highlighted); value labels 11.5px 400 #8A93A6 (700 #F3EFE6 when highlighted); scale labels 11px; section labels 11.5px 600 uppercase with 2px letter-spacing; footer 11.5px.

Layout:
- 56px left margin. Title baseline 56, subtitle 83, a legend with 14px swatches at 114.
- A horizontal band 28px tall centered at y 336, from x 150 to 904, with radius 4. Top-half categories grow upward from its top edge and bottom-half categories grow downward from its bottom edge, so each column pairs an item with its opposite. Each column shows both numbers inside the band, the upper one above the center rule and the lower one below it.
- Section labels ("UPPER", "LOWER") at x 56 beside each half. Footer with the source on the left and a direction note on the right.

Axes and grid:
- One shared scale for both halves (1.45px per unit here). Faint 1px #232B3A gridlines at round values mirrored above and below the band, with small scale labels at the left of each.
- No axis lines beyond the band.

Marks:
- Bar chart: 26px bars in 16 columns, ivory, with 3px rounded corners only on the outer end. A second series stacks in gold at the base of each bar (next to the band), separated by a 1px page-colored hairline. The total sits 7px beyond each bar's end. Highlight the key columns by setting their numbers and totals in bold (gold numbers in the band).
- Line chart: two mirrored ivory area profiles (upper and lower) drawn from the band outward with a 2px ivory line, the gold series as a second 2px gold line inside each, and the same band of category numbers.

Avoid: a separate axis for each half, color on anything but the highlight, shadows, gradients, and 3D teeth.

When you're done, render the chart and check that both halves use the same scale, the lower row is ordered so each column pairs opposing items, the percentages in the title match the data, and no total label collides with the section labels.
