Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Appliance Usage" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a calm, trustworthy energy breakdown in a home app. Pale mint, one family of greens, neat table rhythm and small hand-drawn line icons that make each row recognizable at a glance.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Background: #EEF7F2 pale mint for the whole canvas.
- Bars and icons: #2A8A5E leaf green; the top (largest or highlighted) item in #0F5438 forest green, for its bar, icon, value and share.
- Ink #16372A for labels and values, secondary text #557565, column headers and source #86A395.
- Row rules #D3E6DB (0.8px between rows, 1.2px at the top and bottom of the table); a 1.2px #86A395 zero line where the bars start.
- Share ring track #CBE2D5.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Jost everywhere, tabular figures for numbers.
- Title 27px 600, -0.3px letter-spacing, stating the finding; subtitle 15px 400 #557565 with measure, unit, period and total.
- Column headers 11.5px 600 uppercase with 1.6px letter-spacing ("APPLIANCE", "KWH THIS MONTH", "SHARE").
- Row labels 15.5px 500 (600 for the top row); values 15px 500 (700 for the top row).

Layout:
- 60px left margin, content ends at x 900. Title at y 66, subtitle at y 94, headers at y 128, table starting at y 140 with 42px rows.
- Each row: a 26px thin line icon centered at x 76, the label at x 104, bars from x 272 to at most x 772, the value 10px after the bar end, and a share column on the right: a 7.5px radius ring (3.2px stroke) at x 836 filled clockwise from 12 o'clock to the share, and the percent right-aligned at x 900 with one decimal.
- A short takeaway sentence 36px below the table in 14px 500 #557565 and the source right-aligned on the same line.

Axes and grid:
- No value axis, no gridlines: every bar carries its value. Only the row rules and the zero line.

Marks:
- Bar chart: horizontal bars 20px tall with the right end rounded (6px radius), sorted descending. Icons are drawn with 1.6px round-capped strokes in the bar's color (fridge, dryer, heat pump, water heater, oven, bulb, plug, dishwasher, TV), no fills.
- Line chart: 2.5px #2A8A5E lines with 4px dots, the key series in #0F5438 at 3px; label series at their right ends with a small line icon and name instead of a legend; row rules become light horizontal gridlines in #D3E6DB.

Avoid: saturated or multiple hues, gradients, shadows, filled or emoji-like icons, axis ticks, and percent values that do not sum from the data.

When you're done, render the chart and check that the icons align on one vertical axis and match the row labels, the top item is the only dark green row, the share column sums to about 100%, and the title's percentage matches the data.
