Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Aging Report" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a printed accounts receivable aging summary from a well-kept finance office. White paper, a centered report header, a thin double rule, a tabular body where each row is a traffic-light stacked bar, and totals that foot.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Page: #FFFFFF. Alternate row shading: #F7F8F9. Gridlines: #E4E6EA.
- Series, in this fixed order from best to worst: #86EFAC (sage green, current), #FDE047 (yellow, 1 to 30 days), #FB923C (orange, 31 to 90 days), #DC2626 (red, over 90 days).
- In-segment labels: #14532D on green, #713F12 on yellow, #7C2D12 on orange, #FFFFFF on red.
- Primary text and rules: #1C1F24. Secondary text: #61666E.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Crimson Pro for the report name (600, 28px, centered) and the finding line (italic 500, 21px, left-aligned).
- Noto Sans with tabular figures for everything else: company name 600 12px uppercase with 2.6px letter-spacing in #61666E, centered; "As of <date> · <unit>" 12.5px centered; legend 500 12.5px; column headings 600 11px uppercase with 1.4px letter-spacing; row labels 14px; row totals 600 14px right-aligned; in-segment labels 600 11.5px ("18.4k"); totals row 700 14px; source 11.5px.

Layout:
- Centered header block: company (y 40), report name (y 72), as-of line (y 94), then a full-width thin double rule (two 1px #1C1F24 lines 3.5px apart) at y 108.
- Finding line at y 144 from the 48px left margin, legend row of 12px swatches under it (swatches get a 0.8px 15% black outline so the light colors hold on white).
- Table: category names in a left column (x 48), the bar area from x 250 about 540px wide, and a right-aligned TOTAL column ending at x 912. Rows 33px tall with alternate shading; a 0.8px #61666E rule under the column headings.
- Totals row: 1px #1C1F24 rule above; bucket totals as small swatch plus text; grand total right-aligned with a double rule (two 1px lines 3.5px apart) under it. "Source: illustrative data" bottom left, "Page 1" bottom right.

Axes and grid:
- Scale ticks (0, 10,000, 20,000, 30,000) printed in the heading row at 11px, with 1px #E4E6EA vertical gridlines through the rows. No axis lines.

Marks:
- Bar chart: horizontal stacked bars 20px tall, square corners, segments in the fixed bucket order, separated by 1.5px white gaps. Label a segment with its value when it is at least 42px wide. Sort rows by total, largest first.
- Line chart: one 2.5px line per bucket in the same four colors (the light green and yellow get a 0.8px #1C1F24 at 25% outer stroke so they read on white), r 3.5 dots, and direct end labels in Noto Sans 600 in the darker label color for each bucket; keep the centered report header, double rules and a totals footer.

Avoid: rounded bars, gradients, shadows, chart borders, any colors beyond the four buckets, and reordering the buckets.

When you're done, render the chart and check that row totals and bucket totals foot to the grand total, the bucket order never changes, in-segment labels are readable on each color, and the header block is centered.
