Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Aging Curve" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a dark slate research note from a sports analytics desk. One luminous amber curve carries the finding; everything else is quiet context.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Page: #161B22 (slate).
- Headline series and eyebrow: #F5A623 (amber). Its uncertainty band: the same amber at 16% opacity.
- Context series: #AEB9C6 at 55% opacity, 1.4px.
- Title and key annotations: #E6EDF3. Secondary text and tick labels: #8B949E. Gridlines: #262D36; the zero or reference line: #4A5561.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Merriweather 700 25px for the title in #E6EDF3, stating the finding.
- Fira Sans for everything else: eyebrow 600 12px uppercase with 2.4px letter-spacing in amber; subtitle 400 15px #8B949E; tick labels 14px; context labels 12px in #AEB9C6; the headline series label 600 15px amber; the reference line label italic 13px #8B949E.

Layout:
- 48px margins. Eyebrow at y 44, title at y 82, subtitle at y 110. Plot from x 88 to 840 and y 150 to 500, source line at the bottom left in 12.5px.

Axes and grid:
- Horizontal gridlines 1px #262D36 every 2 units, with signed y labels ("+4"); the zero or reference line is 1.4px #4A5561 and labeled in italic just under it at the left. No axis lines; x labels 26px below the plot and a small uppercase axis name at the far right.

Marks:
- Line chart: the headline series is a 5px amber monotone-smoothed line drawn over a 9px slate halo (70% opacity), with a wide translucent band clipped to the plot. Context series sit behind it as thin pale smoothed lines ending in a 2.5px dot with a small name label. Mark the maximum with a vertical dotted rule (1.2px #E6EDF3, 1.5 on 4 off, round caps), a 7px amber dot with a 3px slate ring, and a two-line label (600 15px, then 13px muted). Label the headline series directly, with a 4px slate text halo.
- Bar chart: slender bars in #AEB9C6 at 55% opacity with the key bar in solid amber, thin amber error whiskers (1.5px) for the interval, the same dotted rule and label on the maximum.

Avoid: neon glows, gradients on the line, more than one saturated color, a boxed legend, and clipping the band at the canvas edge instead of the plot.

When you're done, render the chart and check that the peak label matches the data's maximum, the band stays inside the plot, and no context label overlaps another.
