Chart Prompts

1,337 ways to dress a line or bar chart, 669 light and 668 dark. Open any chart to see it full size and copy a prompt that gives your own chart the same look.

Every chart uses illustrative data. The prompts work with any coding agent and any charting library; they describe colors, type, spacing and marks precisely enough to reproduce each look.

Prompt for your coding agent

Paste it with your chart's code. It restyles your data to match this chart.

Restyle my chart in the "Accretion Case" style described below. Keep my data, chart type, title meaning and units; change only the presentation. Use the charting library this project already uses (plain SVG if there is none). If the library can't express a detail, draw it in a custom layer instead of dropping it. Measurements assume a 960 x 600 chart; scale them proportionally.

Mood: a merger-model page from an investment bank board deck. Sober, precise and dense with qualifications: a navy header bar, a white chart panel on a pale slide, scenario lines around a heavy zero line and numbered footnotes.

Colors (use these exact values):
- Slide background: #EEF2F6. Chart panel: #FFFFFF with a 1px #D3DBE5 border.
- Header bar and base case: #13294B (navy), with a 3px #2B8A8E rule under the header.
- High case: #2B8A8E (teal). Low case: #B4532A (rust), dashed.
- Dilutive zone tint below zero: #F6E9E3. Gridlines: #D3DBE5. Body text: #2A3342. Secondary text: #667085. Header eyebrow: #9FB3CF.

Typography (Google Fonts):
- Source Serif 4 600 for the title (24px white in the header bar, stating the finding) and the page number (22px, right aligned).
- Source Sans 3 for everything else: eyebrow 11px 600 uppercase with 2px letter-spacing; subtitle 14px; axis labels 12px (negative values in parentheses, the zero label bold navy); year labels 13px 600; series labels 14px 700 in their color with the final value in 400 body color; value labels 12px 700; footnotes 11.5px with bold navy numbers; source 11px italic.

Layout:
- An 84px navy header bar across the top: eyebrow and title at the left (40px margin), a "STRICTLY CONFIDENTIAL" tag (1px #9FB3CF outlined box, 9.5px 700 white, 1.4px letter-spacing) and the page number at the right.
- Subtitle under the bar stating measure, unit and comparison basis.
- White panel 40px from each side; plot in the left two thirds, direct series labels and a small "Breakeven year" table (label left, year right in the series color) in the right third.
- A numbered footnote block under the panel, then a hairline and a source line with "Preliminary draft, subject to change" at the right.

Axes and grid:
- Horizontal 0.8px #D3DBE5 gridlines every 2 points; the zero line is a bold 2.2px navy rule.
- Below zero the plot is tinted #F6E9E3; small spaced caps labels "ACCRETIVE" (teal) just above the zero line and "DILUTIVE" (rust) just below it at the right end.

Marks:
- Line chart: straight segments. Base case 3.4px navy with 8px square markers ringed in white and a value label on every point (above it, or to its left when negative). High and low cases 2.2px with hollow r 3.6 circle markers (2px stroke); the low case dashed 7 on, 4 off. Each series ends in a short legend stub and a direct label carrying a superscript footnote marker (9px, raised 6px) that ties to the numbered notes.
- Bar chart: grouped bars per year, one per scenario in the same three colors, square cornered, rising from the bold zero line (negative bars hang below into the tint), base-case bars labeled.

Avoid: gradients, shadows, rounded corners, a legend box, and any real company or bank names.

When you're done, render the chart and check that the footnote markers match the numbered notes, negative numbers use parentheses, the breakeven years agree with where each line crosses zero, and no label touches a line.
