Generalization Beyond Uniform Synthetic Blur

Investigate whether PickMoment can generalize to non-uniform exposures, severe rotational or radial blur, and camera-pipeline effects such as rolling shutter and gamma-related transformations beyond the uniform temporal-integral blur model used for GoPro synthesis.

Background

PickMoment models motion blur as a uniform temporal integral of sharp frames over a known exposure window. The authors note that this assumption matches the GoPro synthesis protocol but does not directly account for several real-world imaging conditions, including non-uniform exposure, severe rotational or radial blur, rolling-shutter effects, and gamma-related camera-pipeline processing. Establishing generalization to these regimes would extend the method beyond its current synthetic-blur setting.

Generalization to such regimes is left for future work.
