Generalization to long and highly dynamic videos

Determine whether VINCIE-NExT generalizes reliably from the OpenVE-Bench evaluation setting to long or highly dynamic videos.

Background

The evaluation of VINCIE-NExT is confined to OpenVE-Bench, while the framework is designed primarily for short video clips and relies on a representative keyframe to convey the intended appearance transformation. Videos with substantial temporal variation, rapid camera motion, severe occlusion, or long-range temporal dependencies may therefore exceed the conditions tested in the paper. The authors explicitly identify generalization to long or highly dynamic videos as unresolved.

Finally, evaluation is limited to OpenVE-Bench; generalization to long or highly dynamic videos remains open.

Consequently, when faced with rapidly changing high-frequency actions—such as sports, extreme gaming, or wildlife hunting—these models often miss crucial visual details, leading to severe perception failures (as illustrated in Fig.~\ref{fig:case}). While recent studies have introduced offline benchmarks focusing on motion comprehension and high frame-per-second (FPS) perception (e.g., MotionBench, \citealp{Hong_2025_CVPR}; FPS-Bench, \citealp{Choudhury_2026_CVPR}), evaluating the capability to perceive high-dynamic events within a continuous, untrimmed streaming context remains an open problem.
