Fidelity impact of zoned execution

Investigate the fidelity impact of zoned execution for quantum error-correction syndrome extraction on neutral-atom processors, including the effects of intra-zone rearrangement and inter-zone shuttling overhead.

Background

The paper extends ONEX from monolithic neutral-atom architectures to zoned layouts through the ONEX-Z strategy, which performs dense intra-zone rearrangement and adds loading, unloading, and inter-zone shuttling operations. Although ONEX-Z can reduce movement distances, the additional shuttling increases execution duration for the dense HGP syndrome-extraction workloads evaluated in the paper. The resulting fidelity consequences are not analyzed, despite execution duration, idling errors, and atom transport being directly relevant to fault-tolerant performance.
