Explicit modeling of ribosome recruitment

Develop mechanistic models that explicitly describe ribosome recruitment to mRNAs, including formation of transcript–ribosome complexes and resulting active ribosome numbers R^act, and quantify the impact on biosynthetic flux J_syn.

Background

The basic growth-law framework does not explicitly incorporate recruitment dynamics, which set the fraction of active ribosomes.

Explicit recruitment models would clarify the co-limitation by ribosomes and mRNAs and enable predictions of growth in translation-initiation limited regimes.
