Cross-chain interoperability for multi-stakeholder detection consortia

Develop and evaluate interoperability protocols that allow independently governed detection ledgers operated by organizations such as healthcare networks or fleet operators to exchange threat intelligence verifiably without relying on a single shared blockchain.

Background

The surveyed systems generally assume that all participating nodes use one homogeneous blockchain. However, practical collaborative detection across organizational boundaries is more likely to involve independently administered ledgers with different governance arrangements and possibly different technical configurations.

Interoperability between such ledgers would enable threat-information sharing while preserving organizational autonomy. The paper notes that this issue is well studied in general blockchain research but largely absent from the IDS, IPS, and EDR literature.

This cross-chain interoperability problem is well studied in the general blockchain literature but is essentially absent from the IDS/IPS/EDR-specific corpus surveyed here, representing a further open issue at the intersection of the two fields.
