Validate JuicyVIS Exemplars with External Design Experts

Validate the JuicyVIS interaction-feedback exemplars through structured review by external design professionals or domain experts to assess and refine their theoretical grounding and practical appropriateness.

Background

The JuicyVIS prototypes instantiate juicy feedback across seven visualization interaction categories and are intended as controlled, theory-grounded exemplars rather than as a universal design recipe. The authors state that the effects and appropriateness of feedback depend on interaction intent, representational context, and timing.

The prototypes were designed and refined by the authors using theoretical grounding and pilot tests, but they were not evaluated by external design professionals or domain experts. Such structured expert critique and iterative refinement is identified as the next step for determining whether the proposed exemplars generalize beyond the authors’ own design judgments.

These exemplars were designed by the authors from this theoretical grounding and refined through pilot tests; they were not validated by external design professionals, a step we leave to future work (\cref{sec:discussion}).
