Compatibility of a low-mass uuddss state with nuclear stability and the LZ event

Determine whether suppressions from strangeness-changing weak interactions and the small overlap between compact six-quark and ordinary two-baryon configurations can simultaneously accommodate the LZ candidate event through a uuddss state near 1.85 GeV while satisfying existing nuclear-stability constraints.

Background

The paper discusses a hypothetical invisible scalar baryon-number-two state with quark content uuddss and mass near 1.85 GeV, motivated by an interpretation of an LZ nuclear-recoil event. At this mass, transitions of nucleon pairs into the state could be energetically allowed in some nuclei, making nuclear stability a significant constraint.

Previous studies have proposed that such transitions may be suppressed by the required strangeness-changing weak interaction and by the small overlap between a compact six-quark state and ordinary two-baryon configurations. The present QCD sum-rule analysis does not calculate the relevant nuclear transition amplitudes, so it leaves this phenomenological compatibility unresolved.

Nevertheless, whether these suppressions can accommodate the LZ candidate event while satisfying existing nuclear-stability constraints remains an open question.
