Evaluate Long-Term Use of AdapTest in Authentic Design Practice

Evaluate the longer-term use of AdapTest on designers’ own projects after the initial learning cost has been amortized.

Background

The user study evaluated AdapTest through single-session, first-contact use with twelve participants performing staged design tasks. The authors acknowledge that this setup does not establish how the tool would function when designers use it repeatedly on their own projects or after becoming familiar with its interaction techniques.

The unresolved issue is whether the observed benefits and workflow patterns persist during sustained, ecologically valid use once the initial learning burden has diminished. Long-term evaluation could therefore assess adoption, continued use, workflow integration, and the practical value of environmental rule authoring beyond the controlled study setting.

Longer-term use---on designers' own projects, with the learning cost amortized---remains to be studied.
