Establish cross-implementation generalization of Lantern

Establish whether Lantern’s specification-guided mutation approach generalizes beyond Chromium and its Dawn WebGPU implementation to Firefox, Safari, and wgpu-based WebGPU implementations.

Background

The evaluation targets only Chromium and its Dawn WebGPU implementation. Although the mutation workflow is based on WebGPU specification constraints and the WebGPU Conformance Test Suite, the paper does not assess whether the generated mutations, extracted rules, or observed testing benefits transfer to other browser engines or WebGPU implementations. The authors explicitly identify this portability and cross-implementation issue as unresolved.

Fifth, our evaluation targets a single browser engine (Chromium) and its WebGPU implementation (Dawn); we have not evaluated portability to Firefox, Safari, or the wgpu-based implementations that other WebGPU fuzzers have tested, so cross-implementation generalization remains an open question.
