Discover seed-state generators with improved error performance

Determine whether further dual-rail qubit seed-state generation schemes exist that exhibit error performance comparable to or better than the seed-state generators described in the paper.

Background

The paper develops an error-response framework for photonic seed-state generators (SSGs) and presents several Bell- and GHZ-state generators with intrinsic removal or fusion-heraldability properties for detector loss and detector noise. These constructions demonstrate that destructive many-photon interference can substantially improve error performance beyond what is captured by success probability or output-state fidelity alone.

The authors explicitly leave unresolved whether additional dual-rail qubit SSG architectures can match or surpass the error performance of the examples studied. Such schemes could improve the trade-offs among input-photon resources, heralding success probability, distinguishability sensitivity, leakage, and detector-error mitigation in fusion-based photonic quantum computing.

A natural open question is whether there are further SSG schemes of interest for dual-rail qubit seed state generation which have similar or better error performance than those described in this paper.
