Assess offenders’ perceptions of admins’ moderation explanations

Assess the extent to which offenders in WhatsApp groups find admins’ explanations for moderation actions useful and effective, including how these explanations influence offenders’ attitudes and subsequent behavior.

Background

The authors did not interview group members who received moderation actions, creating uncertainty about how offenders perceive admins’ explanations. Understanding offenders’ reception and the persuasive impact of admins’ rationale is critical for designing effective, culturally sensitive moderation communication strategies in close-knit and public WhatsApp groups.

Since we did not talk to group members, we could not assess to what extent offenders found the admins' explanation of moderation to be useful.
