AICE signal and fibre-optic infrastructure requirements

Establish the detailed signal and optical-fibre requirements for the AICE shaft and surface laser laboratory, including their impact on existing infrastructure, cable-tray installation, and fibre-distribution planning.

Background

The site-integration studies specify preliminary safety, electrical, and experimental infrastructure, but the later scientific instrument will require a detailed inventory of control, diagnostic, data, and optical-fibre connections. Until those requirements are known, the necessary cable trays, fibre-distribution modifications, and their integration with CERN infrastructure cannot be designed or scheduled definitively.

References

A detailed assessment of the signal and optical fibre requirements required along the shaft and on the surface laboratory for the later installation of the AICE experiment is not yet available. Therefore, the impact on the existing infrastructure, the new required infrastructure (installation of cable trays, consolidation of the fibre distribution point in SX4 and UX45) and its related planning cannot yet be established.
